Visual Studio :: Error Controls In Desing View - Unable To Add New Controls In Webapplication?
Mar 4, 2011
I start coding a webform and when I save and close VS and open again the proyect this happens to all the controls in desing view:
This is the code within the controls, I guess It's something to do with data controls and I'm hardly search about this error but not able to find any answer. What the message error says on English: "An error has ocurred when the control was created" "Objet Reference not established as an object instance" (more or less It was it says)
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Imports System.Web.UI.Control [code]...
Note: Servers names and databases were modified for security issues, :p

In VS 2005 I could change the layout appropriately, to move controls in a web form in design mode, to a place where I intend to. But in VS 2008 , I don't see such an option. My controls are stuck in places of their own and I am unable to move them to the intended locations. Googling suggested to use Tools -> option -> HTMLDesigner -> CSS. But not sure that is the correct route.

I upgraded to VWD Express 2010 and cannot edit text in the design view only the source view. Clicking on the design view takes to the code behind page.
If I create a test page without masterpages I can work in design view.

I am getting an error "Unable to start debugging on the web server..." while running as web application in VS2005. But the error seems only for this application. I created a test application, both in VS2005 and VS2008, and found no issues in running these applications.

Coming from Java programming, I'm used to the general Main<->Test Maven-setup for a project. Whenever there's a new build, all tests will be run by Maven/Junit and I get feedback about them.
I've been looking around and I can't find an analogue way for ASP.NET and Nunit. Am I forced to put my UnitTest-classes in the APP_Code folder?
What's the general way to do this? Are there any recommendations for continuous integration?

I would like to migrate this website into a web application project but I do not want to lose the source control history. We use Visual Studio 2010 and Team Foundation Server (Currently 2005 tfs but we are in the process of upgrading to 2010).create a webapplication project and migrate the files from the web application into it without losing the source control connections?

I just started getting the error message "Unable to Connect to the ASP.net Development Server" when debugging a website with VWD 2008 (everything was fine in the past). My system is Windows Vista with Windows Live OneCare firewall. I have reviewed other postings related to this problem, and they indicate firewall setting problems - settings not allowing VWD internet access. However, my settings on the "Windows Live OneCare Firewall Advanced Settings" tab specifically allow VWD.

Basically what I am trying to do is have my webpage project folder located directly on my local machine (ex. Local #1). Our database is located on a server (ex. Server #1) . I am building my web applications on my local machine and then trying to debug them in Visual Studio 2008. Only every single time I click to debug my project I get a "Security Exception" error that looks something like the following...
"Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.
Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."
I'm somewhat leaning towards the fact that I need to connect to the database to pull information from it and I don't have the proper permissions is the reason why this is happening but I've also read that it can be something that deals with improper configuration of my Web.Config file (i.e. I do not have something enabled).
Note #1: A co-worker of mine is having the same problem if he tries to put the project locally and then debug it. He has full administrative access to the DB and everything else.

I've copied and pasted code/controls into the html view, and I've tried just adding them, in the design view, to the design window. Then, when I go to code behind and try to refer to the controls (textbox1, calendar1, etc) - I get blue squiggly lines and when I hover over them, I'm told the controls are not declared.I've tried rebuilding the page, the website - switching from html to design view, shutting down and reopening VS.Net 2008. Still - the same thing happens

I am getting this error, without any further details, when attempting to debug my ASP.Net project in VS2010. There are other developers using the same tools and code who are not having this problem therefore I know the problem is not in the web.config file. I have found several suggestions when googling the issue and tried them all to no avail. I uninstalled and re-installed VS2010 along with the .Net 4 framework. I made sure Anonymous as well as Windows authentication is enabled in IIS. I uninstalled and reinstalled IIS. I am at a loss. I can attach to the process and debug the ASP.Net code that way, but what I really need to be working on is a Silverlight app that is called from the ASP.Net and the breakpoints don't work in Silverlight when I attach to the process manually.

It pops up the Notification about the ASP.Net Development Server localhost but doesn't open ASP.Net Configuration in the default browser.I clicked on the Root Url (by double clicking on the 'development server' at the right bottom from Notification Manager).
It throws following error
"An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again."
