In one of the steps of a wizard control are 2 dropdownlist which data come from 2 distinct queries and cascade from the 1st one to the 2nd one. Where and how can code for that data binding and cascading be placed since it seems codebehind window for both of the dropdownlists cannot be found in VS property or event windows?
View 3 RepliesI like to use a wizardcontrol on my site. I like to use a radiobuttonlist on each step.
I would like that once an item of a radiobuttonlist is selected, a check mark becomes visable next to the active step title on the sidebar.
For this I have changed the sidebar to a templated sidebar, added a picture of a checkmark next to the sidebarbutton, and put it's visebility to false.
now I have to write some code to set the visebilety of the specific checkmark to true.
I have tryed this:

But then the control is not found. I guess becouse findcontrol is only looking in the active wizard step, and not in the sidebar.
I am in the process of evaluting ASP.NET Wizard Control. Where we need to collect data from different steps, Validate data and towords the end i should be able to show summary of data.
I would like to know from group if any one of used this control and what issues they faced. Are there any limitation around this control?
I'm looking for some opinions on how to go about the following:
Say I have a wizard control in my website, and I've completed all the steps on the wizard and I want to redirect to another page after the "Finish" button I've clicked. So, then after that I logout of my site, and go back into it bearing in mind the wizard has been completed, I want to redirect the user to another page and by-pass this wizard control. Would I setup a flag in the database, to indicate if the wizard control has been completely filled or not. If status = true then redirect the user to different page (and bypass wizard)... but if status = null then make sure user still can go through steps in the wizard control.

I am trying to add wizard steps dynamically in code-behind but keep getting an exception

now, How do I skip or remove or hide the steps 2,3,4,5 based on key1,key2.key3,key4 respectively?

I have an asp:wizard control that contains five WizardSteps. All of these steps have form controls, and most of these controls have validators. When the user steps through the wizard with the next and previous buttons everything is working great, and validation triggers as it should. However, if the user chooses to navigate the wizard using the links in the SideBar, he or she could skip some of the steps. When the last page is submitted (which is a summary page) there might be controls in the wizard that are invalid.
What I want to do is to check the state of all controls (or run all validators) when the user clicks the finish button, or when the user enters the summary page. I have made an attempt to run all the validators in the FinishButtonClick event by doing this:

But when I do this every validator claims that they are valid. I have also tried to set all controls to Visible = true; prior to this code block, but this has no effect. what could be wrong? Or is it a better way of doing this, maybe a native function to the wizard control that I'm missing?
I have a CreateUserWizard with three Wizard steps and one CreateUserWizardStep. The first two are accessible from the code behind by ID. The third and fourth are not! If I comment out the references to these two steps in the code behind the page runs fine. I have triple checked the variable names and everything is fine. Everything that should have a runat="server" does, everything is enabled, all of that good stuff.
why some steps in the same CreateUserWizard may not be visible from the code behind and others are?
I am using CreateUserWizard control.. Is there anyway, I can put all the steps in the wizard process into one page. I do not like the idea of sifting through multiple pages to create a user. I would like one page where user goes through different sections (panels/divs) and creates a user ultimately all from one page.

What I would like to do is to access libServiceActions CommandArgument in code behind to set db tabel with the values thats passed.
My requirement is to disable a control on Master page when user is on some specific step of asp:wizard control. I am facing 2 challenges,
1. I am not able to disable the control master page by setting its Enabled property as false, this is inspite that I am getting the control object when I do a Master.FindControl("MyControlName").
2. To try and disable the control from JS, I am not able to find a JS event that would get called when a speific tab step get active and loaded.
I am not trying to activate an event or run a subroutine from a control from the masterpage, I am trying to activate or run from VB codebehind of the master page.
I have a button in a content page with a particular .click even that I want to activate from the masterpage codegehind periodically.
Also, how do I access or run a subroutine in a content page from codebehind in a master page.
I am putting a C# asp.net web form together that has a number of fields that we want to ensure data is inputted in them. I have added the RequiredFieldValidation control, but I am unsure what to put in the Button_Click event. I want the click event to check the fields and if not filled in, preserve the fields that already have data and then return the page data with the missing fields so that they user can take corrective action.

But my dyanmic controls are loaded from a dropdownlist selectedindexchanged event handler. Now after any postback, my dynamic controls are gone. How would I force it to load on every postback ?
View 2 RepliesI have one dropdownlist control which populates values to other controls. Means upon selecting item in dropdownlist, related data is populated in other controls. I have also assigned dropdownlist's autopostback to TRUE. Everything is working good as far as dropdown has more than one item.
Whenever there is only one item, selectedindexchanged event is not fired (obviously.....) and eventually the data is not populated to other controls.
How could I get rid of this scenario? I mean which event should I use to avoid this?
At this time, I have just added the first item as something like "---Select Item---" , so when end-user has to select different item and thus the selecteditemindexchanged is fired. no biggie... but just wondering if proper solution is available....
I am having a problem with dropdownlist auto post back set to true...
In my project I have to hide and display two other dropdown lists depends on selected index change of a main dropdown..
I set the auto postback to true and I am hiding and displaying the dropdowns on user selection...Everthing is working fine..
But I am having a very hard time when user types when the dropdown got focus..this is very annoying situation..if type one word its doing a postback and they are unable to type further...
is there any way to fire this onselectedindex change event on blur or on enter key press...is there a way of doing it with java script or jquery...

Everything works fine, datas are bound and SelectedIndexes are restore on every postback.
The probem occurs when user change different dropdownlists, if he choose to change the 1st dropdownlist the event is fire (normal), after if he modifies another dropdownlist the event is fire twice, if he modifies a 3rd time the event is fire 3 time etc...

I'm actually looping through a sqldatareader for a list of employees, but for simplicity just consider the single option added above. When I go to check the attribute EmpNum for the selected option, I am getting "null":

Now the really weird part...If I add an option in the HTML source identical to the one that gets added in the codebehind, the javascript function works for that row, but not the row added from codebehind. Here is the rendered HTML for the SELECT:

If I select the 1st record (added from HTML source at design time) the alert says "12345". If I select the 2nd record, the alert says "null". I CAN get the value ("999-99-9999") and the displayed text ("John Doe") for either record, just not the EmpNum attribute, even though the HTML is exactly the same. I am completely stumped on this one.
Stuck trying to populate a dropdownlist with an ObjectDataSource using the wizard.
using the wizard i can successfully configure the datasource, then I can choose the datasource. The next step you should be able to select your display value and the selected value. However, these boxes are not populated within the wizard. I added a gridview to test the datasource and it displays fine.

I have a DDL bound to a sqldatasource where the dataTextName is the storeName (varchar) and the dataValueField is the storeID (PK Int). I'm holding the value of the storeID in a user's profile (using ASP.NET membership profile). So, when a user is created, they're assigned to a store (or not...it's optional). When I edit the user, I populate the DDL with all the stores in the table, but I need to set the selected item to the storeID in the profile (if it exists)...I'm not sure at what point to do it though. In my codebehind, I bind the ddl to the datasource and insert an additional item: if not page.ispostback then

So I have a dropdownlist and I'm trying to populate it with values in the database. For some reason, half of the rows has no value. It's happenning in a sequence as well, like the first row has no value, then the second row has value, then the third hasno value....
Does any one know why it does this?

View 2 RepliesI'm attempting to load DropDownLists from the C# codebehind as the FormView switches modes to Edit and displays the EditItemTemplate. I present the data in a FormView ItemTemplate using text boxes. When the user selects Edit, I have been attempting to load the EditItemTemplate dropdownlists by creating a dataset and binding it to the control, without success.
I've successfully loaded them in previous projects from within the .aspx code using <asp:ListItem> and within the C# code behind using Control.Items.Add(new ListItem), which are essentially the same thing of course . This project is different in that I want to get the data from a stored procedure on a MSSQL server.
In my latest attempt, I can see the data in the datasets. I'm getting "Error connecting to database.'eitRace' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items.Parameter name: value"
I include the code below. If someone could point me to an example I would be greatful. There has to be an elegant way of accomplishing this.
