In my current application I want to implement ASP.Net localization with global resources. I have the problem, that after changing the CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture and CurrentThread.CurrentCulture and changing to another page, these values are overwritten by the browser default values.
I have a DropDownList that enables a selection between different languages. In the ItemChanged Event I store the culturename in the session, redirect to my defaultpage and use this code

What options do I have? The following come to my mind:
On every *.aspx page I do implement InitializeCulture I create a new class that derives from System.Web.UI.Page and overrides the InitializeCulture Eventhandler. Every *.aspx page I use derives from it.
Isn't there a more "built-in" way? ASP.net offers such good localization support, so I guess there must be an easier/more efficient way to achieve my goal. Which one is there?

View 1 RepliesI have a data editing application that I use the crystal reports viewer to generate pdfs on the client machine using exporttoHttpResponse that is working. My problem is that if a user adds a record, generates a report(pdf) then goes back and edits/updates the record and regenerates the report(pdf) it will show the older pdf. The updates don't show up. It is like the report is stuck in browser memory but if I clear the cache and history it still will not show the updated data. The only way I have found to show the updated data is to shutdown the browser and pull the record back up.

In asp.net website, i am using crystal report. My question is very generic i.e. How it is possible to display client side (browser) date and time?
Actually in my case our website is going to hosted at India, while that site is used by user's at SWEDEN.
Now the problem is that when user request for report then it is displaying server side date time because i have used PRINTTIME control of crystal report. But user should have date and time of their PC. because that time is basically a report generates date time.

View 1 RepliesI would like to generate word reports on the web server. My web host does not have office installed, and from what I've read it´s not recommended to use word on the server.
Now, I just recently found this out, and I more or less counted on the reporting stuff being quite simple to set up.
This is what I need.
The user logs in and uploads data, changes it, calculates it and so on. When this is done he will need to generate a report, although preferably in a format he can edit (like maybe adding a comment or a logo or whatever).
How do I do this? This really needs to look professional so features like page breaks and other kinds of formatting is needed.
It is sufficient if the document is generated and not opened on the server. I think I can require the user to have office installed locally in order to actually open the document and maybe print it. But the content must be generated from the sql database.
I created a web application in which I am generating a ms-word document using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word dll. The application is running fine in the visual studio but when I tried to run on IIS 5.0 through virtual directory then its giving the following error -

In my application I have taken reference of Microsoft Word 12.0 Object Library, but its coming as Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word dll, this interop dll is just a wrapper of the actual word COM dll. But I have to register the actual word COM dll. so my problem is to find -
1) The path of the original word dll(COM)
2) How to register this dll, either using regsvr32 or to register on IIS.

I have not add any .NET code yet. However when I try to browse to this page, I get a 404 error. I can browse to .HTM files fine, but .ASP file seem to lock up.
In my present project I have to open one site through my asp.net application and this site I have to control. And after that if we close the site the application master page should display. How I can accomplish the requirement .Any ideas will be very useful for me to start thinking on those lines.

View 4 RepliesI have an object on my asp.net page hosting a Silverlight xap (in my particular case it is in an IFrame, but I'm curious about regular objects as well). I can find the element in UI Spy, but the name just says "Silverlight Control". Trying to find that AutomationElement in my automated test is unsuccessful (control is null every time). Is there a setting in the Silverlight code or in the html that would help? How can I distinguish it if there are multiple Silverlight controls on the same page?

Is there a way to stop someone from looking into the App_Themes folder, by putting it into the url, like this:

same with app_data, can those be blocked, i didn't try app_data as i don't have anything in there, but just curious, as app_themes I was able to get into. Is this an IIS setting I need to adjust?
there any way where i can make a page only accessible through a RedirectToAction? It's a bit dumb of a question given a redirect writes a URL.. I know it might sound a bit silly, but i really don't like the fact i have to be 'forced' to create a partial view to be able to make the page i want to redirect to. What i want to do is quite simply, after deleting a user account, redirecting to a page where it says, account deleted (with a bunch of other stuff), so its quite a simple task. I have no problem making a partial view here and there, but if i want to make many pages unaccessible, i think i would have to make most of the website in partial views haha. I have an old COM+ object that we've used to create AD user accounts with information from our HR system. This process has been broken since a recent upgrade, so I'm attempting to modify the object to point to a new DC and a new inforamtion store during mailbox creation. After modifying the code I am unable to get an account to be crated and the following error appears:error '8007202f' Automation error A constraint violation occurredI am not a developer and I know that this is a long shot but if anyone has any insight into if this is an AD issue or one with VB 6, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
