This thread is basically a continuation from my last post. I have a website that uses a TreeView Control. Each TreeNode represents a virtual directory and I wish for the user to be able to create a new Node/Virtual Directory. This site is for family photos. Each family member has their own node with a Child Node called "Albums". Within this "Albums" node, a family member can have as many Nodes/Virtual Directory as they want with each Node/Virtual Directory containing images. Each Virtual Directory path is stored in a Database. So essentially, I'm trying to create my own photo album. My question is....how do I allow a user to create a new Node/Virtual Directory (they don't know that a VD is being created...only a Node).
I have a TreeView in my application, while page loaded TreeNodes Id are Unique. But while me to use for RenderControl Method TreeNodes Id are not unique. Why TreeNodes Id are not Unique?
I have a nested masterpage and in the childpage of the second master I have a treeview. Now I want to change appearence of the nodes in it (like the color), and I´m not able to do that. It doesn´t say anywhere if there´s a section of the css stylesheet that´s being applied.
Is there any way i can make all the nodes of the treeview checked by default other than looping through the nodes and setting each node property Checked=true; I dont want to unnecassary loop through the node collection to set each node property. There should be easy way of doing this by setting simple property for the entire treeview. Oh i am using the RadTreeView, I dont have the
Code: Dim obj1 As New TreeNode obj1.Value = 1 obj1.Text = "Level" & obj1.Value Dim obj2 As New TreeNode obj2.Value = 2 obj2.Text = "Level" & obj2.Value
[Code]...
Can I somehow create a function that creates the nodes instead of I need to make Dim ... each time? If I have 300 nodes this is not a good solution.
I have tried something like this but it doesn't work:
Code: Function CreateObj(ByVal no As Integer, ByVal name As String, ByVal obj As TreeNode) As TreeNode obj.Text = "Level" & no obj.Value = no treeview1.Nodes.Add(obj) Return obj End Function
I've managed to render TreeView using custom made Hierarchical Datasource based on Linq queries on self referencing table. Rendered output looks well but... Every Node in NodeCollection has the same index = 0. Therefore when I click on any collapse button - the whole tree Collapses. In generated html every node has the same id = MainContent_TreeView1n0 I suppose n0 should increment to n1 n2 n3 and so on.
Is there any way to add a C# Web Form to an ASP.NET 4.0 Web Application that is written in VB.NET? I had an ASP.NET 2.0 WEB SITE that I recently converted to an ASP.NET 4.0 WEB APPLICATION. It was mostly written in VB.NET with a couple pages that had C# code behinds. I've read the following article (the end section about mulitple languages): [URL]
1) When I converted my site to an application, it didn't seem to add an APP_CODE folder at all 2) I'm not looking to just write a simple class, I actually want to be able to add a WEB FORM with a C# code behind
When I try to add a new item and I select which type of item I want to add, I am only given to option to add a VISUAL BASIC web form. I have a workaround right now. If I need a new web form with a C# code behind, I take one of my old C# web forms and just copy and paste the form and C# code behind into the project and then rename it and change the class name as well. Then i make my changes and do what I need to do. It seems to work, but I was just wondering if there was an easier way.
You might wonder why want to put C# forms in my VB app. I wrote my app in VB (not well versed in C# but I can read it). I have a programmer working for me that is much more efficient with C#. I don't really have the budget to spend weeks/months getting her up to speed with VB
I want to add WCF to existing asp.net application and host both of them in the same virtual directory is it possible ?? Also when i click new item to add app.config file from visual studio its not showing.
I have a website deeloped in ASP.NET and I want it to be accessed via local URL, for eg: http://localhost/website20I tried once but the CMS in my website started giving error "It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."
I will be adding new pages and adding functionality to current pages.
I would basically like to use new technology and but I don't know how should I add it to classic ASP pages
In other words, can I <#--include--> an aspx page in Classic asp page? Or anything of that sort, may be creating a user control in ASP.NET and using it in classic ASP?
I have created a MVC application and I want to make it customizable by adding an API to it, how do I go about doing this?
So, I have a database table called Orders with a bunch of a fields and my application is a simple form with the ListView control and users can add and delete orders. this API should allow users to add extra columns to ListView control and extra buttons as well.
how to add the web service in my project and how to use it.
I am planning to use Autocomplete from ajax tool kit which needs a web service. Web service will be prepared and given to me, and i need to use it in my project for autocomplete control.
step by step procedure to add web service in my project and also how can I create a web service if i have to create my own service.
We have a web application written in ASP.NET for .NET 3.5, using standard web forms.
Going forward we want to start building new features, and over time migrate existing features, in ASP.NET MVC.
Is such a thing doable? Can we add the necessary files to an ASP.NET web application and thus "upgrade" it to be compatible enough with MVC so that we can start adding routes, controllers, views, etc.?
The old site is using a frameset containing a top header, a left menu, and a main content. What I envisioned was to create a new masterpage for all the existing pages, integrating all of those things into each page instead, and then start adding new pages using views instead.
I understand that unless we upgrade to .NET 4 we cannot use MVC 3, so the way I see it we have the following options:
Build a new website, somehow auto logon the new site with the same credentials when logging in on the main site, and link between the sites. I see tons of problems with this solution. Integrate ASP.NET MVC 2 into the existing software, adding the necessary files, and starting to add new content in MVC style, only fixing critical bugs in the old files, and over time migrate them over to MVC. Upgrade to .NET 4 and integrate ASP.NET MVC 3, pretty much the rest the same as option 2. Wait until we can schedule a full rewrite, likely to not happen in any foreseeable future. Don't do it, keep web forms.
Note that a full rewrite is out of scope at the moment, so some transitional period is the only option we can do right now.
Option 2 and 3 are the ones we want, the rest are just for completeness.
I am trying to find out if their is a way to Application Extension in Application Configrautions screen using Dos prompt. I am trying to develop a installer where i need to register the DLL file to application extension using Dos prmpt ?
My asp.net application running properly in single machine and even server itself . But when i installed the microsoft vss on server and cline machine and added the application in server vss itself. But that time it self it showing dll error . I am using Windows Xp Os. My vss is microsoft vss 2005
I'm using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, and I'm at the point in my web application where the data from my database (SQL Server 2008 express) needs to be put in a nice format. So I decided that I want to use Crystal Reports, and I see some online tutorials on how to implement them in ASP.NET/VWD, but I don't see any way to create a .rpt file or add any instance of Crystal Reports into my application. How does this work? What exactly do I need to configure/setup so that I can use Crystal Reports in my web application and just in general, Visual Web Developer?
What are the steps to implement webparts into an existing application that already has been set up to use asp.net membership? I have yet to see how to get this to work. The only thing I am accomplishing is generating the following error:
The specified connectionStringName, 'LocalSqlServer', was not registered. (C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727Configweb.config line 312) at System.Web.Configuration.ProvidersHelper.InstantiateProvider(ProviderSettings providerSettings, Type providerType) at System.Web.Configuration.ProvidersHelper.InstantiateProviders(ProviderSettingsCollection configProviders, ProviderCollection providers, Type providerType).
So, what is the deal here? Is it because my site uses masterpages? I have profile, roleManager, membership and connectionstrings in my web.config. I tried adding a webpart section, like I found on one website, to no avail. I was still getting the 'LocalSqlServer' error bunk.
I'm trying to migrate an old asp.net 1.1 application to target the new .net 4.0 framework. There are good guides available on this [URL]. However, all approaches start with the assumption that the 1.1 project contains a solution file which one has to open using VS 2010 and go through the conversion wizard.
In my case, the project does not have any solution file, giving me a sort of chicken and egg issue.
Is there a way to add a 1.1 .net soution file with or without VS 2010? Using command line tools? What is so special about a solution file anyway?
Being new to integrating sharepoint documents into web applications I am struggling with the following task, so anyI have a page in my web application that needs to display a document from sharepoint.I use the appropiate sharepoint web service to get a list of all the documents in the sharepoint list, I then pick out the one I would like to retrieve and get the path to the document so i would end up with something like:
Company%20Hire/Hire%20Site%20Price%20Lists/0.pdf Within our network I can do following: iframePdf.Attributes[ "src"] = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["SharepointUrl"] + _filePath;
This would display the document in iframe... problem I have is coming from outside the network the sharepoint site can't be accessed (due to firewalls etc). We do have a vpn back to our network on the external server our web application sits on. If i was to use the document url in a browser on the server I am prompted for credentials and then get to view the document. Is there a way for the web application to use the vpn, use credentials i give (e.g through impersonation) to access the document and display it to exernal clients?
