Mvccontrib Test Helper And Verifying Http Post Routes And Parameters?

Jan 29, 2010

In my Asp.net MVC app, I have two methods on a controller, one for when the user first arrives on the view and then one when they submit the form on said view.

public ActionResult Foo() {}
[AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)]
public ActionResult Foo(string id, Account accountToFoo) {}

In the second action, there's a custom model binder that's assembling the account object that I'm acting on, though that's really not important. This all works fine in testing locally on a server.We try to be pretty good about writing unit tests to test all our different views are properly getting routed to, including those that are HTTP POST. To do so, we've been using mvccontrib's test helper.

Testing gets have been super simple

"~/account/foo/myusername".
Route().
ShouldMapTo<AccountController>(c => c.Foo("myusername"));

My question is in testing POST routes, how do I write the lambda that I would use to verify the post is receiving accurate values, similar to the GET test above?

For a POST, it looks something like:

"~/account/foo".
WithMethod(HttpVerbs.Post).
ShouldMapTo<AccountController>(a => something_something);

It's the something_something portion of my lambda that I'm having trouble with. Using arbitrary values doesn't work ("a => a.Foo(0, new Account()"). How would I specify the expected values as part of the test?EDIT I was hoping there was something akin to the way Moq has lambdas for statements such as foo.Setup(s => s.Foo(It.IsAny(), It.Is(i => i > 32)) and so on. Even I have to explicitly supply the values, that's workable--I just can't seem to grok the desired structure to pass those explicit values.

4.0 URL Routing With Two Or Multiple Querystring Parameters

I'd like the display URL to be: [URL] The first parameter is ID: 1 The second is Name: This is my first report I am trying following route, but it is not working

routes.MapPageRoute(
"MarketReports", // Route name
"Reports/{*i}-{*n}", // Route URL
"~/pageControl2.aspx" // Web page to handle route
);

How can I make this work as described?

Passing Multiple Parameters To Web Service

Oct 6, 2010

I have a simple Web Service method defined as:

[WebMethod]
[ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)]
public string MyWebMethod(string foo, string bar)
{
// DataContractJsonSerializer to deserialize foo and bar to
// their respective FooClass and BarClass objects.
return "{"Message":"Everything is a-ok!"}";
}
I'll call it from the client via:
var myParams = { "foo":{"name":"Bob Smith", "age":50},"bar":{"color":"blue","size":"large","quantity":2} };
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'https://mydomain.com/WebServices/TestSvc.asmx/MyWebMethod',
data: JSON.stringify(myParams),
contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8',
dataType: 'json',
success: function (response, status) {
alert('Yay!');
},
error: function (xhr, err) {
alert('Boo-urns!');
}
});
However, this yields the following error (a breakpoint on the first line in MyWebMethod() is never hit):
{"Message":"No parameterless

I'd like to pass in two string parameters and use DataContractJsonSerializer to write new Foo and Bar objects. Am I missing something?

Send Multiple Parameters Via Querystring Asp

Mar 5, 2010

Which is the best way (in performance and security) to send multiple parameters to a web page (on a different server), considering that the length of the parameters may vary because I'm sending a list of products, and the customer may have selected more than one product, so we need to send each product on the querystring to the other page. For example (I'm on C#); I want to call a web page like this:

Simple Querystring: thepage.asp?Product=1&Name=Coffee&Value=1.99
Json: thepage.asp?{"Product":"1","Name":"Coffee","Value":"1.99"}
XML: thepage.aps?<xml><Products><product>1</product><name>Coffee</name><Value>1.99</Value></Products>

(Obviouly considering we can't send special characters via querystring, but I put them here for better understanding) Which will be the better way (performance, security)?

Call SQL Function With Multiple Parameters From C# Web Page?

Mar 30, 2010

I have an MS SQL function that is called with the following syntax: SELECT Field1, COUNT(*) AS RecordCount FROM GetDecileTable('WHERE ClientID = 7 AND LocationName = ''Default'' ', 10) The first parameter passes a specific WHERE clause that is used by the function for one of the internal queries. When I call this function in the front-end C# page, I need to send parameter values for the individual fields inside of the WHERE clause (in this example, both the ClientID & LocationName fields) The current C# code looks like this:

String SQLText = "SELECT Field1, COUNT(*) AS RecordCount FROM GetDecileTable('WHERE
ClientID = @ClientID AND LocationName = @LocationName ',10)";
SqlCommand Cmd = new SqlCommand(SQLText, SqlConnection);
Cmd.Parameters.Add("@ClientID", SqlDbType.Int).Value = 7; // Insert real ClientID
Cmd.Parameters.Add("@LocationName", SqlDbType.NVarChar(20)).Value = "Default";
// Real code uses Location Name from user input
SqlDataReader reader = Cmd.ExecuteReader();

When I do this, I get the following code from SQL profiler:

exec sp_executesql N'SELECT Field1, COUNT(*) as RecordCount FROM GetDecileTable
(''WHERE ClientID = @ClientID AND LocationName = @LocationName '',10)',
N'@ClientID int,@LocationID nvarchar(20)',
@ClientID=7,@LocationName=N'Default'

When this executes, SQL throws an error that it cannot parse past the first mention of @ClientID stating that the Scalar Variable @ClientID must be defined. If I modify the code to declare the variables first (see below), then I receive an error at the second mention of @ClientID that the variable already exists.

exec sp_executesql N'DECLARE @ClientID int; DECLARE @LocationName nvarchar(20);
SELECT Field1, COUNT(*) as RecordCount FROM GetDecileTable
(''WHERE ClientID = @ClientID AND LocationName = @LocationName '',10)',
N'@ClientID int,@LocationName nvarchar(20)',
@ClientID=7,@LocationName=N'Default'

I know that this method of adding parameters and calling SQL code from C# works well when I am selecting data from tables, but I am not sure how to embed parameters inside of the ' quote marks for the embedded WHERE clause being passed to the function.

SQL Server :: Stored Procedure With Multiple Parameters?

Nov 28, 2010

I have a table with 4 columns.The first column is a list of teams.The other three columns specify whether the team member with the particular id is present on any particular day .Say for example in the third row the running Team has 2 and 3 which means team member with the id 2 and 3 are present.Multiple values are seperated by the pipe symbol '|'.I have a Query like this

Select Teamname from tblTeam where Running not like '%|2|%' and Running not like '%|3|%' and Running not like '%|7|%' and Biking not like '%|1|%' and Biking not like '%|4|%' and Biking not like '%|7|%' and shooting not like '%|3|%' and shooting not like '%|4|%' and shooting not like '%|7|%' Basically i am searching the columns with like clause.The search criteria for each column may vary.In the above query i am searching for Teams where Running column does not contain 2,3 and 7,Biking column does not contain 1,4 and 7 and the shooting column does not contain 3,4 and 7. I would like to set a stored procedure where i would be able to pass 3 set of parameters from the code behind(I am using VB.net) for Running column search,Biking column search and the shooting column search.

Can someone tell me writing a simple stored procedure.I have a table with 4 columns.The first column is list of teams.The other three columns specify whether the team member with the particular id is present or not on any particular day .Say for example in the third row the running column has 2 and 3 which means team member with the id 2 and 3 are present.Multiple values are seperated by the pipe symbol '|'.
