View 2 RepliesI have a C# web forms ASP.NET 4.0 web application that uses Routing for URLs for some reason custom errors defined in the system.web section of my web.config is entirely ignored and it will fall back the IIS errors.
This gets entirely ignored
[code]....
This would be a minor inconvenience except that by the fact it falls back to IIS native instead of my application it completely circumvents Elmah logging my 404 exceptions correctly.
I want put custom error page in my website so I wrote below code in web.config
<httpErrors errorMode="Custom">
<remove statusCode="404" subStatusCode="-1" />
<error statusCode="404" subStatusCode="-1" prefixLanguageFilePath="" path="error-404.aspx" responseMode="ExecuteURL" />
</httpErrors>
is it correct?
or I should put other code?
Here's my Application_OnError event sink in global.asax.vb:
Sub Application_OnError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim innerMostException As Exception = getInnerMostException(Me.Context.Error)
If TypeOf innerMostException Is AccessDeniedException Then
Security.LogAccessDeniedOccurrence(DirectCast(innerMostException, AccessDeniedException))
Dim fourOhThree As Integer = DirectCast(HttpStatusCode.Forbidden, Integer)
Throw New HttpException(fourOhThree, innerMostException.Message, innerMostException)
End If
End Sub
You'll see that if we've got an innermost Exception of type AccessDeniedException we throw a new HTTPExcpetion with a status code of 403 AKA 'forbidden'
Here's the relevant web.config entry:
<customErrors defaultRedirect="~/Application/ServerError.aspx" mode="On">
<error statusCode="403" redirect="~/Secure/AccessDenied.aspx" />
</customErrors>
So what we're expecting is a redirect to the AccessDenied.aspx page. What we get is a redirect to the ServerError.aspx page.
We've also tried this:
Sub Application_OnError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim innerMostException As Exception = getInnerMostException(Me.Context.Error)
If TypeOf innerMostException Is AccessDeniedException Then
Security.LogAccessDeniedOccurrence(DirectCast(innerMostException, AccessDeniedException))
Context.Response.StatusCode = DirectCast(HttpStatusCode.Forbidden, Integer)
End If
End Sub
Which unsuprisingly doesn't work either.
iv'e looking the web for some solution without any success (some of them using VB, some of them for global file and some of them are not working) i want to put some code (not in application / global file) only in one page of my site, that send to my email address exceptions details in case there is some.(c#)
View 1 RepliesI am trying to prevent VS from breaking on JS errors.
I have the following settings:
In IE, under Tools->Internet Settings->Advanced (tab)->Browsing
Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) is checked.
Disable script debugging (Other) is checked.
In VS, under Debug->Exceptions->Common Language Runtime Exceptions JScript Exceptions (thrown and user-unhandled) are unchecked.
In VS, under Tools->Options->Debugging->Just-In-Time
Script is unchecked.
There are some JavaScript errors that I just don't care about and it is driving me insane having to deal with them.
A typical CSS property that I use often is overflow-x and overflow-y. Sometimes I use CSS 2.1 or later properties or selectors. These (correctly) raise a validation error: Validation (CSS 2.0): 'overflow-y' is not a known CSS property name.For years I ignored this, but it kinda feels wrong. It's possible to switch off warning in C# and other languages for a particular line, block, file or project. Is something similar possible for CSS (or HTML) errors or warnings? Instead of switching it all off, I prefer a more granular solution.
View 2 RepliesCurious what the best practice is for returning errors to a view from a controller where the error isn't really a validation error, but more like "user not found" or "service timeout" type of errors. (in ASP.NET MVC2 framework)
I've been adding them to the ModelState's model errors, but that doesn't seem appropriate. (although easy to implement and maintain)
Example - A user tries to log in, and their credentials do not match a known user.
I have used this code, which has worked perfect:
Code:
Dim mail As New MailMessage()
mail.From = New MailAddress("x@y.dk")
mail.To.Add("y@x.dk")
mail.To.Add("xyz@xxx.dk")
[code]....
until my provider changed in his server settings. He now tells me that I cannot use specific IP adress. How do I access a specific host instead? He told me that this is the right host: pubsmtp.directit.dk
I have a page in MVC where i want to take the email adddress as the input which can be of format like:"Jone Davi" <jone@gmail.com>, "Ben Miller" <ben@gmail.com>, "Jane Ton" <jane@gmail.com>,
Then from this I want to parse the valid emailaddress.But on click of the submit button getting error message" A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client" Thus is there any way to take the input of email address in above format and bypass the security error for that specific page.
is there any java script that i can put it on my master page and block specific I.P address ? And navigate the user visiting from that blocked I.P address to a different page ?
View 8 Repliesi have an requirment where an user can enter multiple email address.
The validation should ensure that he should enter address in the format "something@abc.com".
my existing validation ensures that some text is entered before "@" symbol and "abc.com" is the domain.
@"w+([-+.']w+)*@abc.com$";
I would need my regex to check for the delimiter ";" between two mail id's .
valid: a@abc.com |
a@abc.com;b@abc.com|
invalid: a@abc.comm | a@abc.com,b@abc.com | @abc.com |
a@abc.comb@abc.com|
I've tried many links but ther were of no use and i'd be grateful if someone could help me modify the current one to suit my requirments
How can I access the web application from paticular client machine based on ip address of client Machilne.
View 1 RepliesI want to disable right click on my website and would like to display a popup window on right click, along with the person's IP address who right clicked on my website, how to accoplish that ?

<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" EnableViewState="false" />
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" />
I have set the EnableViewState property to false, but when I click on the button the value in the textbox persists after the postback. Why does the value persist?
In my registration form, there is field to enter email-id of member, i want to restrict user, so that he would not able to enter gmail, yahoo, radiff.... emailids is this possible.., Only company email id eg: priyanka@juncturetech.net must be allowed?
View 1 Repliesi want to disable a button for a specific time. how can i do that?
View 3 Repliesis it possible to disable sorting on specific columns? 5 out of 7 columns have to be sortable, two not sortable. The columns are created dynamically in code behind, so I think doing this with mark up is out of the question. When I say disabled, I'm hoping that the underline wont show on the column header when you mouse over it.
View 1 RepliesI have a form where one of the fields would allow entry of HTML tags.
<asp:TextBox ID="someID" runat="server" TextMode="MultiLine" />
In this field I have a RequiredFieldValidator validation only. Unfortunately, after any PostBack if the content of any of the fields includes HTML tags or any other potentially dangerous code - the entire ViewState is cleaned.Setting ValidateRequest to false does not help. I'm using IIS 7.5 and .NET 4.0.
This question is regarding one of your article on disabling future dates in [URL] ....
Your code in the above link disables(prevents for selection) dates for selection greater than today.
But I want to prevent users from selecting dates after a particular date say for example-after 13th October 2013, all the dates should be disabled.
I replaced this line
var c = (new Date).setHours(0, 0, 0, 0);
with
var c = (new Date("October 13, 2013 11:00:00")).setHours(0,0,0,0);
in the javascript file(Extension.min.js).
But still it was disabling dates other than today.
I am using two text boxes for email id and password,and a submit button inoreder to login.In the same page itself I have provided a link button for forgot password.For the two text boxes I have provided required field validators.So when I click on the Link "Forgot Password" I cannot move to other page since the requiredfield validators prevent thatr.

Custom errors only working with file name
if I am redirecting to an error page from global.asax file, can I get hold of the page in which the error had originally occurred?
View 3 RepliesI have dropdownlists inside a repeater. I would like to do something like this but can't figure out the syntax:
If (DropDownList1.Text = "Hello")
{ DropDownList1.Enabled = false; }
I'm not sure if the JQuery implementation will be as simple as this, or the approach will be a little different?
I'm trying to set up custom errors for asp.net in webconfig/global.asax on Server 2003, IIS 6. Got it working find for .aspx pages but not for any htm or html pages. So I found the article describing how to open IIS manager, click configuration, copy path for .aspx extension and add one for .htm Did that.
Restarted website: Now I get the blank white page explaining there's a problem but not the 404 page not found
Restarted web services: same thing
