Javascript - JS: "The Callee (server [not Server Application]) Is Not Available And Disappeared." Accessing Window.opener?
Oct 1, 2010
In our (quite large and old) ASP.NET application we use a lot of pages loaded into frames, iframes, and modal dialogs (using window.showModalDialog). We are starting to see the error above quite a bit, and I can't seem to find a single rational explanation for it anywhere.Popup Blockers. Nope. We're not running them. Not even the built-in blocker.Trusted Zone. Nope. The application runs on LocalHost right now, and it's in the trusted sites list.Stray Cosmic Rays. Possible, but not probable. It's way too consistent.
I did eventually find the error message buried on Microsoft's site in some dusty tome about retrieving automation error message information. In it, they were talking about Excel, and they said: "In this example, Microsoft Excel is the server application. Referencing a workbook object once it is destroyed (or closed) generates the error."That is probably as close as I've ever come to an explanation for the cause of the error, without a real, concrete explanation. Someone tried to use something after their reference to it was disposed of. Oddly, you can still see the windows on the screen. Curiously, however, this smacks suspiciously to me of the accepted answer to this.So here's what happens.
Page A is the main page.PageA displays PageB in a frame. PageB is a toolbar.PageA displays PageC in another frame. That's the content.PageC displays PageD in a nonmodal dialog. PageD, for reasons unknown to me, wants to modify the controls in PageB. It's trying to use window.opener to do that, and failing horribly. If someone could enlighten me as to why this is the case (the code works in FF), I'd appreciate it.
Elsewhere in the page, some JavaScript opens a popup. When the popup is filled out and submitted, I want to use JavaScript to fire that OnSelectedIndexChanged event in the opener page. I found some other code that does something similar:
if (window.opener != null ) { var cf = window.opener.document.forms['aspnetForm']; if (!cf) { cf = window.opener.document.aspnetForm; [code]...
My application is in .NEt Framework 2. 0 and which i have deployed in window server 2000 . when i run this application it gives me error like . server application unavailable .
I have a parent window parent.aspx and a popup window popup.aspx. parent.aspx
has a confirm button which on click open popup.aspx. This popup.aspx holds a filled application form like leave application form of employees and a email sending button. That button on click send emails to the specified email addresses with attachment. The popup.aspx has a javascript function sendResponse() which call another javascript function display() of parent.aspx after sending the email. The display() function display a message by Label control regarding the email sending i.e., whether or not this email sending operation is successful. The sendResponse() function after calling display() close the popup.aspx window. I have successfully did all the aforesaid jobs.
Now the scenario is that I have a database which is holding various leave information like casual leave, medical leave etc of employees. After sending email successfully I have to update this database. It will be better to tell in this context that the email sending portion of my cs script is :
[Code]....
this info string is passed to the sendResponse() javascript function as : [Code]....
And the sendResponse() function is : [Code]....
Now the problem is, in which portion or when I do update the database. Should I update the database in try-catch block of email sending or from sendResponse() function?I have tried to call C# function UpdateDatabase() from sendRespose() as shown here. But this static method is creating too many problems like the popup.aspx is not closing automatically, if I try to call another C# non-static method from the static UpdateDatabase() method to close the window I have to call it by creating a new instance of that page, which is eventually not closing the popup window. Can I call stored procedure from javascript function sendResponse() and pass parameters to it? If so how can I call it?
I have a web page that opens another web page in a pop up window. I would like to refresh the parent page when the submit button is clicked on the pop up page. I tried using window.opener.location.reload(); in IE7 but nothing seems to be happening.
I have a link that is located inside a content control. This link calls a javascript function that opens a popup window containing a calendar and passes it the transformed id from the server of a textbox control using clientid. I need to be able to click on a date and have the popup close and insert the date into the textbox of the id I passed into the function which again, is located inside the content control.
I wish to acces my database using MSSMS at the same time that I am running my web application. When I tried to access my database with MSSMS I get the following error:Failed to retrieve data for this request (Microsoft.SqlServer. Management.SDk.Sfc)Additional Information:Unable to open the physical file "C:inetpubwwwrootmyappApp_Dataaspnetdb.mdf".Operationg system error 32: "32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process)". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error:5120).What can I do to being able to view my database with MSSMS at the same time?
Can anyone explain why the following happens:My ASP.NET application requires access to Application event log. When I access web application initially, it returns "Security" exception (which is expected, as I haven't granted permissions to write to Application event log yet). Then I give read/write permissions to IIS_IUSRS group on the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetserviceseventlog. As a result of this action my web application starts working. Now I remove those permissions I've granted to IIS_IUSRS group. But my web application keeps working (although I'd expect "Security" exception raised again)So, why web application keeps working, although permissions to write to Application loghave been removed?
I have a webform which uses a masterpage which in turn inherits from another masterpage.I have a dropdownlist drpCursosIn my javascript code I tried to access the control but with no luck:var combo = document.forms[0]['drpCursos'];combo is nullAfter checking the source code, I changed it to:var combo = document.forms[0]['ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_drpCursos'];EDIT: My javascript code is in an external file
While running an app from the server where it is deployed the website works fine, however when trying to access it from a different machine(placed in same network), using the same credentials, it shows that I am not an authenticated user.
I opend various applications and made even a new one, but nothing..
Changed from design to source view and back, even performing a "reset all settings "from the tools - import and export setting dus not give me my events tab back.
how to get the tab (with the lightning bold) back??
I have problem regarding my IIS (Window server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64). I make my web application using Win. 7 with 32bit and using Vs 2010. So many method i read from internet but still cannot solved my problem. For your information, my Application Pool is ASP.NET 4.0 (Classic). and under Application Pool i started more than 1 Application Pool.
I'm evaluating two options of accessing a server side data on client side. Little bit confused about the efficiency or may be you can call it as finding best approach to do it.
I need to access a server side data may be an integer value in javascript on client side. I know about two options to do it.Create a public variable or property on server side and set it to javascript variable on client side as below:
var value = eval(<% =value %>);
Create a asp hidden variable and set value in this hidden variable from server side and access it through javascript using document.getElementById().
Which is the best approach and what are the pros and cons?
I built an ASP.NET 4.0 Web Site. It works perfectly on my development computer. However, when I deploy the web site to theProduction Server, which is a Win2003 Small Business with Sql Server 2000, the site can't connect to the database.
These are the different tests I've made:
I tried using Integrated Windows authentication and this connection string: Data Source=myServerAddress;Initial Catalog=myDataBase;Integratedsecurity=true; and the error I got was that NT Authority/Network Service couldn't open the database. So I added that account to my database users list and gave it the appropiate permissions. Nothing.I tried using Sql Server authentication, so I created a new database user with a password and changed my connection string toData Source=myServerAddress;Initial Catalog=myDataBase;User Id=myUsername;Password=myPassword;. Nothing. I still got the same NT Authority user message.I deleted the used I created in step 2 and used the same connection string, to see if this time I got an error saying something about my user, and indeed it happened. I got an exception saying that user myUsername couldn't log on. I then created the user again, ang got the NT Authority user message one more time.I created a console application that used the same connection string from steps 2 and 3, and it connected to the database witouth any problem, which made me think that my problem's got something to do with my Web.config.I tried enabling impersonation on my Web.config, and thos time I got the same error message, only referring to the user I logged in to Windows, instead of NT Authority/Network service. What else could I check? My Web.config is this in case it helps (I havn't really put anything into it other than what VS puts):
I have problem accessing an SQL server DB on a remote server.Actually, I had no problem with creating a connection string to it using the Visual Web Deveoper 2005 Express Edition GUI, however, I have problem connecting to it through the code. This is the connection string created by the GUI, and connection test on the connection wizzard GUI just works fine.
In your opinion, what's the best way to create the server side to a pure Javascript application with ASP.NET? WCF rendering JSON? IHttpHandler? Update Like GMail, that runs in the browser (with a lot of Javascript) and submit and receive data with Ajax, for example.
I have a new web application. I've setup the application and it's working on one server(xxx) but it's not working on another(yyy). I changed the web.config file(checked throughly and I've changed the connection string and appsettings).
What could be the error?
The login page is working but when I proceed a Javascript error occurs...
(Line: 48 Error: Object doesn't support this property or method)
I have a c# window form application (which is basically a game). And an ASP.NET Website. the window form application has a database with a table that contains the username and his cash. The asp.net database has a table that contains the username and his cash. Now I want to sync between to the two servers. Once I get point in my game, It'll also update the database of the asp.net site.
I am using a master page in my project. I opened a popup window from content page. What I want to do is, when I close the popup window, the data in the textbox available in popup should be assigned to a text box in parent form. But I dont want to refresh the parent window when I close the popup window. Can any one tell me how can I access textbox in a parent window from a popup window without refreshing the screens.
I am working on ASP.NET Ajax site. Application is working fine when I run in my local machine, but same code if I place in Server then it is giving "SpanID is undefined" Javascript error. I found error is due to UI.dll file.
I need to make an ajax call from my javascript and access a control on my page. Using a webmethod wont work then since it's static, do I have any other options?
I want to Access remote server( ie., want to access online server not local server) in my Application.. I change Settings in SQL surface Area Configuration---> Remote Connection ( checked the Local and Remote Connection ) Then while running the application it showing the following error.(I make off the firewall also) An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
