I have a webform that has multiple textboxes that the user fills in plus a datatable that could have one record or multiple records. Basically it's an order page, I'm still a newbie and I would like to save this information to a sql db table. The user would fill out the textboxes with name, address, ect.. and the datatable contains products that they selected from a previous screen. I'd like to have a "Submit Order" button, when that is pressed the information on the webform gets saved as a record within the db. If there are multiple records in the datatable the name and address information could be saved multiple times (one per each record in the datatable)
Using the Interop for Excel 2003 I had a nice little link that saved or opened the repeater content as .xls. Now we are using Excel 2007 and I get file format error messages. When I click the OK button on the error pop-up Excel closes. Does anyone out there know how to convert my code to handle the .xlsx format? I've been reading up on Interop for 2007 but none of the examples seem to work for this particular simple task. Here is my code from the "Export to Excel" button click:
Protected Sub btnExport_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExport.Click ' Send HTTP headers that specify Excel filename, MIME type, and character set Dim sTemp As String = "attachment;filename=CoverageCase" & Session("OpenCase").casekey.ToString & ".xlsx" Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", sTemp) Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Response.Charset = "" ' Create objects used to render the controls Dim strw As New System.IO.StringWriter........
I found a thread from a couple of years ago dealing with this but there was no solution [URL]. There were a couple of tortureous work arounds but neither work for me.
I have a gridview, where I set the columns based on the columns in a datatable. I have a class that implements ITemplate, and creates a textbox template field. Everything works good, I can display my grid with the correct columns and headers. The probem comes up when I click a Save button, to save the user input. Of course the page postbacks, and I re-create the columns on PageInit. However, all the data the user entered is gone.
I am saving grid data. Grid contains one textbox in item template column. But it was not saving any data, which was entered in textbox(Just saving 'NULL'). There was not error while debugging. Below is code i am using.
Company array is a string array where i have stored the company ids
the problem is company_array[0] has the initial value of the dropdownlist(company) --select company which is why m getting the error(cannot convert data type nvarchar to int) . I have used the same logic in many places in my project it did not give any error.
int count = 0; company_length = company_length - 1; while (count < GridView3.Rows.Count && compid_counter < company_length ) { cmd = new SqlCommand("insertWorkDetais", conn); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@trainerId",trainerID);
If I pull just the xml from the database then I would not need to select multiple rows i just need to select one row then parse the xml into a class then pass that data to the controller. I just would like to know if this is a good idea? Will I be making a mistake if my site to scale in the future? Will this make more maintenance as the site gets bigger and want more features?

I have a app that records some jobs and those jobs can have notes attached therefore i connected the table with a foreign key, my notes to a Job.
in the details view of the job i allow the user to view the jobs by sending the id and fulling all the notes that match the id in the index view for the notes table. in the list of notes i have a action link to create a new note, here i sent also the id of the job to the create action of the control and try to insert that intot he note JobId to make the reference. I get this error and the note is not created. the note creats from code but not via the note controller creat action.
i get this - An error occurred while updating the entries. See the inner exception for details. below is the create action in the note controller
public ActionResult Create(int id)
{ // var newnote = db.Jobs.Include("StatusNotes").Single(j => j.JobId == id);[code]...
I would like to save some data for use after a page postback. Here is an example of what I'd like to do:
Partial Class TestPage Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Private _CategoryID As String = "" Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load If Not IsPostBack Then _CategoryID = "ABC" Me.ViewState("CategoryID") = _CategoryID Else _CategoryID = CType(Me.ViewState("CategoryID"), String) End If End Sub End Class
I've tried both session variables and view state. The page loads fine initially, but on postback I get the following error:
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.
What am I doing wrong? How can I save this data for use after postback?
I have an "Instruction" view, which have partial views for entering instruction details, different attributes for the instruction, different input values etc for the instruction. Each of which is seperate partial view. The main view have a save button which save all these details. "InstructionDetails" partial view have instruction name, description and its model is "Instruction". "Attribute" partial view have dropdown to select attribute and a textbox to enter its value. It also has an button "Add to list" which is intended to add attribute details to a table which is in the same partial view for attribute, its model is "Attribute". Same is the senario with input values. I have few problems where i am struck up with.When the "Add to list" is clicked in Attribute partial view, the values from the dropdown and textbx need to be listed to the table.When "Save" button is clicked the entire view need to be saved.
I am trying to code (.net) in the autosave functionality without clogging the network. I am trying to capture data from a webpage into a file on the local drive and automate save every 5 mins. Then finally when the user hits "save" the data should be pulled from the local file to update the data base.
I have a form where the user enters their first name, last name, email address etc.. and then they also have the ability to enter 'cottages' that they are interested in viewing (ie. The cottage name, cottage address). The user then needs to be able to 'save' this somewhere and enter another cottage into the same form.
Finally the user will submit the form, and all the user details, and cottage details will be emailed to admin.
i have done a small code like if i enter some value in my text box i will pop up a new form corresponding to the value entered i will take the values from the pop up form and click on save and i am redirecting to the previous page and will click on save now i would like to save the data along with the data that is entered in the pop up form
Ex : My first form is like
Name ABC
Address XYZ
Value 3 Here when i enter 3 i will get a pop up if i click on save it will take input 3 times from the user. That data should be carried to the prev form and wiil fill the remaining values in that form and click on save
developed an application in Asp.net. It is a receipting system. I have deployed the system in a company which runs with various networks. The company uses VPN, LAN and so many. When I deployed the system they complain the speed is very slow when accessing through network. Specially in the receipt page where i have used Update Panels and AJAX Comboboxes, they complain that it takes time to load the combo boxes. Also they say that when the selected index is changed in the combo box, it takes time to post the data in the other relevant controls.
I have an application that is developed using VB.Net that is saving data in SQL Server 2008. in this application i have to save a big amount of data in one button click. When i say big i mean around 21000 record in one table. this is taking a lot of time since I'm calling the "Insert" procedure around 21000 time from my application. What i want to do is to find a way to put my data in a kind of container then let VS or SQL 2008 manage the saving. I'm thinking of putting the data in a dataset.
Is this the best solution, or is there any other way to reduce the saving time of the 21000 records?
how to save and retrieve data in/from my textboxes to/from database (MYSQL) on submit button click. i know its a very simple task but i cant make it done, some working example link or post any helpful code here in asp.net
i want to save data from three textboxes into one cloumn of database. i have there text boxes for phone no field..one for country code, 2nd for area code and third for number..
A variety of files (pdf, images, etc.) are stored in a ntext field on a MS SQL Server. I am not sure what type is in this field, other than it shows question marks and undefined characters, I am assuming they are binary type.
The script is supposed to iterate through the rows and extract and save these files to a temp directory. "filename" and "contenttype" are given, and "data" is whatever is in the ntext field.
[code].....
This works, but the file should be saving to the server instead of popping up save-as dialog. I am not sure if there is a way to save the response to file.
