I am putting a FormView together with three AJAX Calendar Control extenders in the FormView. The Form itself works fine. When I click on the Textbox or the ImageButton next to it, the Calaendar pup comes up. Some times it only shows the first two weeks. I often have to move to another tab on the form and go back to that tab in order for it to show the full calendar. Is there something I can do to fix this without having to move to another tab?Update;I figured out what it was. The form was cutting off the edges of the popup so that it was not allowing the popup to display completely.
I have a page with a FormView on it. The page is strictly for adding records to a Table. I have the FormView bound to an EntityDataSource and everything works greate except for one thing.
I want to initialize a date field in the FormView to today's date. So, in my page_load event I have:
if (!Page.IsPostBack) { //Initialize SetupDate to today. TextBox setupdate = (TextBox)fvJob.FindControl("txtSetupDate"); setupdate.Text = DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString(); }
The first time this page loads, the txtSetupDate field is initialized.
Although, and subsequent loads of the page doesn't initialize the Text Box. I step through the code in the debugger and I can see that the code is executig, but something (the FormView bind?) is "clearing" the Text Box.
I have a formview in one of my pages and I need to use a collapsible panel extender for the FormView fields so as to get better navigation , classification of the fields. How can I achieve this.
I have a Formview in INSERT Mode that is binded to a datatable. One of the colums in my Database called "AppointmentDate" is of type DateTime. On aspx, i have a ajax calender extender control. What I want to do is allow the User to Select the date from the Calender and also enter a time. Basically so they can make an appointment. What is the best way to do this in C Sharp and do i need a time column as well
I have a FormView with a byte field. The field is not required and if I don't enter a value, I get an error that the value is not acceptable in a byte field. I can replace the null value with 0 but I would prefer not to.
What is the best way to handle this so that if I do not enter a value in a byte (or int16) field to insert a null value (or whatever they do in the ASP.net).
We have a page that contains a loginView and in the LoggedinTemplate is a FormViewTemplate. The display part works fine.
Not all fields are databound due to special hadling needed on diaplay anu onUpdating. The display part works fine. However in the onUpDating procedure. I can't figure out HOW to gain Access to the field content in unBound FormView Fields. I need that to determine and set the output fields that need special handling.
I'm not sure if I can explain this properly, I just need some advise. I'm working with a formview and datasets to populate the information. However I have a table specifiying which fields to display. In my table If cell, work and home fields are selected then those fields must be populated in the formview if they not selected then it shouldn't be shown. These are 2 different datasets being pulled into the formview.
Right now I have a datasource populating the formview via the wizard, not sure what to do next.
I am working on an application and am attempting to use Linq with and ObjectDataSource but I only want to display/update 50% of the fields that are in the corresponding table. It appears to me that for this to work correctly, I need hidden fields on my form for all of the data fields from the table that the user cannot access. Is this the only way to do this? I have the following in my update method of my ODS:
[Code]....
The problem is, only the fields that appear on the form have data in them.
The above code works if there are controls directly inside a update panel. But what if I want to disable a button or a tex box that is inside an Edit template of a formview.. that is in a panel.
I have a Formview control that has several lookup fields. The value is an int ID but the textfield is the name, e.g. value = StateID, displayed text = StateCode)
If the user leaves that field blank, I get a Server Error when attempting to Update: Failed to set one or more properties on type orgOrganization. is not a valid value for Int32.
In the table for the LinqDataSource which provides the data for the Formview, all fields except the text field OrganizationName allow Nulls.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? I tried a test which just has the numbers, no lookups, and get the same result.
I have a combobox that is used as a control for Formview, so when the user selects a name from the combobox the data in formview displays in edit mode. However, some if the data that is displayed in formview needs to be empty. For example if the Date is being pulled in, it needs to be empty or null in edit mode.
I am inserting 4 fields into a table trought an SqlDataSource and a FormView element. These fields are ID (autopopulated), date(selected from calendar and/or todays date as default), Company name(user input), and UserID (taken from LoginName?).
I am able to inser the data in to the table when typing it, but I would like to have the UserID fiel auto completed and the date as well, or filled with the selected calendar date.
This is my part of my code.-------------------------------------------
i used below code for date time picker validation but it's not working.
Actually I want a date time picker which date dd/mm/yyyy format date. With validation for start and end date. Also for manual entry it should take only no. and for date rest like / or, will be auto formatted.means user should not be able to enter it.
I got an excel spreadsheet (will have tons eventually) that have "Start Date" and "End Date" columns, with a format of "dd/mm/yyyy".For time being, I just want to import these to a temporary table in my database, and use the SQL Server Import/Export wizards.
Now this wizard import the the above fields as nvarchar, instead of date or datetime (not sure which would be better?).I tried to convert the columns to datetime after importing, but this is not allowed (Saving changes is not permitted. The changes you made require that the following tables to be dropped and re-created, ......).
So I deleted the temporary table, and ran the wizard again, this time trying to edit the mappings and specify the two fields to be date times, but this also fails.I also fiddled around with convert and cast, but always end up getting "Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string." errors.
I looked myself skew, and are pretty sure all the fields in the excel sheet do have values, and are in the "dd/mm/yyyy" format.(I've been absent from SQL for a long long time!)
I'm currently developing a software application for my client. Part of the project is to keep track of his stock's shipping status. The client must insert the stock's pick-up date, expected time of departure (ETD) and expected time of arrival (ETA). The stocks will be called out using Grid View and the status, being one of the keys of the database, will be shown. Before the current date reaches pick-up date, the status must show "in warehouse", and after the current date reaches pick-up date and is before ETD, status must show that its "on the way to the port", and after ETD and before ETA, "in freight", and finally after ETA, "arrived". What datatype should I use for the database and where should I program it so that it changes automatically accordingly ?
I'm exploring ASP.net. I have created a FormView based on Linq Data Sources. There are several fields in my datasource that are either future or archaic.
1) Do all fields in the DataSource need to have a control in the FormView? 2) Does ASP.net need to insert/update all fields in the DataSource?
Here my question is very simple. That what I want to do is to select a date using asp.net calender control and insert into textbox. Both the controls are in the InsertItemTemplate of the FormView.
1. Page1.aspx has a textbox and an image for calender.
2. Calendar.aspx is to select any date and with the help of session it should go back to its parent page in the text box and dispose itself.
Achievement:1. From Page1.aspx when i click Calender image, perfectly a new page Calendar.aspx opens.
2. On Calendar.aspx page, date selection is also OK.
3. Using Session, the date is perfectly transfering to next page.
Problem: 1. When I select date from Calendar.aspx it is not transfering back to Page1 in textbox.
2. Secondly when I select date from Calendar.aspx it is not disposing itself after date selection.
This is the sqlDateTime overflow problem again. Background. As I'm sure you know dates must be between 1/1/1753 and 12/31/2999. If you have an empty date field, it throws and exception. So I created a function (below) that solve the problem when attempting to update or insert a record with a date field. Works great.
Public Shared Function MakeDateField(ByVal pasDate As String) As Nullable(Of DateTime)
If IsDate(pasDate) Then Try If pasDate <= System.DateTime.MinValue Then Return Nothing Else Return CType(pasDate, DateTime) End If Catch ex As NullReferenceException Return Nothing End Try Else Return Nothing End If End Function
So I thought about using a time field. I have the field, have the validator in place and then attempted to test the page. It resulted in my least favorite error message "sqlDateTime overflow".
I can think of several workarounds like adding a date or a fixed date to the time field, or converting it to a string. Each of these is problematic.
IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO UPDATE/INSERT TIME FIELDS.
I have a formview with various templates set up for a database that has 255 columns. I need the insertitemtemplate to pre-fill values based upon a specific selection by the user (just like the edit item template) but when the template is switched to insertitemtemplate every text box is cleared. The idea is that a new entry is usually made by making minor changes to an existing entry. With 255 fields I don't want to require the user to enter every field when only three or four need to change.
I have an access database where when the record is updated I would like to automatically check a box and update the date to the current date in an Access 2002-2003 database. I've tried this for several days without any resolution and can't find anything that works on the net. ...I'm new at this.
