I have two pages, say pageA and pageB, with code behind classes CodePageA and CodePageB. I would like to reference an instance of CodePageA in CodePageB, but I'm getting a
Compiler Error Message: CS0246
Both of my classes are in the default namespace. Can anyone give a hint of whats going on?
I want to convert my website project to web application project. First things I need to add references to new web application project. When I click "Show All Files" from Solution Explore, web application shows References Node. However, Web site project does not show References node. How can I find what references in my web site project?
I have a solution containing 4 class library projects and one "web site" project. The web site project contains references to the 3 class library projects, whenever I make changes in any of the class library projects, the only option I see is to rebuild the web site which takes a lot of time. Is there any option that I can only update the dll references and the changes are reflected in the web site project?
I've got an ASP.NET web site project that for some reason is insisting on referencing both mscorlib 1.0.5 and mscorlib 2.0, and I can't figure out why.
I've analyzed all the referenced DLLs using NDepend, and they all appear to only reference mscorlib 2.0. I've got a couple web references, but I can't imagine why that would create an additional reference to the 1.0 dll.
why I'd be getting this additional reference, or what I can use to find out that information? NDepend is great, but just comes back and says "found 2 references, using the newer version".
i have a webapplication project which uses some functionailty from class library project, i am Using VS2010 TCP 4.
so the class library is a reference in this webapplication project,
unfortunatelly, when i build the webapplication, the class decleration has been lost!!!, and the message appear "The type or namespace name 'ClassName' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)" !!! i must delete the class reference from the webapplication and re-refrence it again !!!
but still when every time i build the project the reference decleration removed !!! does that error in VS or what ?
I am trying to create a set of WCF web services for an existing website that uses web site instead of a web application project. I would like to create a DLL that I drop into the Bin folder instead of writing all my code inside the App_Code directory. Ideally, I want to create a project and reference it from the web site, but I am running into a difficult situation.
The DLL will need to reference configuration and other DLLs located inside the bin folder of the website causing a circular reference. How do I get around this issue?
On my development machine I have VS 2005. I had installed Crystal Reports 9 and then later I installed Crystal Reports XI R2 on it as well. I needed both on my dev machine to support 2 different vendor applications. I have a .NET 2.0 web application that uses crystal reports objects. Now my assemblies in webconfig file contain references to both versions of CR installed on my dev machine which is giving me 'ambigous reference' errors on compile. I opened up project properties and deleted the new references (I want to stay with using the CR 9 dlls in the GAC). This fixes up my webconfig nicely.
However VS 2005 automatically re-updates and adds all the CR XI R2 refernces I just deleted a moment ago. Is there a way to sto VS 2005 from routinely updating my references, a radio button or a trick to letting me have complete control over my references, at long enough for me to debug , build the site and deploy to my production server which does not have CR XI R2 installed on it?
i am trying to call a webmethod from a webservice within a webpart-project and just cant instanciate the class within my webservice. CongressDataExternalSoapClient wsSAP = new CongressDataExternalSoapClient(); at this line i get the following error message: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'com.miltenyibiotec.webservice.congress.CongressDataExternalSoap' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application...
attention should be paid to "SoapClient" at the end of my Class-Name: "CongressDataExternal". VS cannot find the Web-Class CongressDataExternal. in other ASP.NET-Projects, its possible... but not here!!! so the only class i can see is the CongressDataExternalSoapClient. i can also see the interfaces CongressDataExternalSoap and CongressDataExternalSoapChannel. i have already added the needed entries to the webconfig:
Miltenyi.Complaints.Sharepoint is the namespace of my sharepoint webpart project. and this entry is in my settings: Name: Miltenyi_Complaints_SharePoint_com_miltenyibiotec_webservice_congress_CongressDataExternal Type: Webservice URL Scope: App Value: URL to my webservice... what am i doing wrong here?
I am using Reporting Services to render a report directly to PDF. It requires that I use two web references: ReportExecution2005.asmx and ReportService2005.asmx. The performance on web references seems really poor. Since my web server (IIS7) and my SQL Server (2008) are on the same box, is there a way I can reference them directly? If not is there any way I can explicitly cache them or something. First load is really really slow, second load is perfectly acceptable.
I am in the planning stage for developing an asp.net internal site with C# code behind. I will need a menu at the top of every page that is essentially a navigation menu that allows the user to hover over the header and select the page from the sub-menu that they need to access. So data structure would be
Category Name Category Name Category Name Category Name --Page 1 Name --Page 1 Name --Page 1 Name --Page 1 Name --Page 2 Name --Page 2 Name --Page 2 Name --Page 2 Name
(just a snippet, their will actually be 10 Categories, with the MAX having 12 pages listed unerneath it)
edit I do not want to redirect pages, specific files etc. I would like to change the path where images, videos and other media are stored from the root source directory to the directory of my choosing. In this case c:/dev/prjfiles/prjname/public (c:/dev/prjfiles/prjname/ is my working directory) and i except when my html does img src="/pic.png" it will find the image in c:/dev/prjfiles/prjname/publi/pic.png. I need a working solution, i tried looking at how to set virtual directories and etc. I cant figure it out.
I am trying to deploy an ASP.NET 3.5 Web Application to my production server and I am using the Web Deployment Project for this purpose. I have a folder named MasterPages in the root of the application which contains all the master page files. When I build this project in the release mode and deploy it on to the server I am getting the below error message:
Directory 'C:inetpubwwwrootMasterPages' does not exist. Failed to start monitoring file changes.
I am using ASP.NET AJAX and the ToolkitScriptManager is on the master pages. I have noticed that the MasterPages folder is missing from the release build.
I published a project called TestSample which has 2 pages page1.aspx and page2.aspx and application dll Test.dll in bin folder.
what i need is, i want to create a new page called page3.aspx and page3.aspx.cs through programmatically which is done by file stream object, my need is to publish this page3.aspx to the TestSample virtual directory and also page3.aspx.cs has to be merged with Test.dll so that code behind should be avoided.
I have two projects in my solution: MyApp.Domain and MyApp.WebService. MyApp.WebService is a WCF service library. I want to use some utility functions from MyApp.Domain. So in MyApp.WebService, I added a reference to MyApp.Domain. Intellisense picked it up just fine, it recognized the function I need to call. But when I build the solution, I get this error:
The type or namespace name 'Domain' does not exist in the namespace 'MyApp' (are you missing an assembly reference?) at using MyApp.Domain.Utility;
I installed visual studio team eddtion and i can't find web application projects in it . Is it the wrong version for having web application projects or .. ? I installed it full features and i don't know what could be wrong..
I used this example from [URL] I changed it around to fit in a regular aspx page and it works great. however when I move it into my child page of a master page it fails on the AnimationExtended. Does anyone have a solution for the $find statement in child pages of a master page? Code is below. Errored line is bold faced.
I am trying to add a .aspx page in the project , but while adding the .aspx page i am not getting the option to choose existing master pages. I remember long back i used to get that option to select the master page.
I got a new domain name for my project that I developped and I went in and changed all the old domain names to the new ones thru out the project and it actaully seemed to work. For a few days now when I first go to the page it askes me to login like it should then when I navigate to other pages it asks for login again once logged in that page then works well if I navigate to a new page for the session it asks again to login. I am using forms authentication.
I am trying to copy code from one project to another. There is one problem however:
The type 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Sql.SqlDatabase' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=3.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.
have a CustomValidator in a user control which validates text in TextBox ( TextBox is in user control ). I am using this user control in multiple pages. For some pages i need fire custom Validator and for some pages not.
I'm trying to include script and style references that will not break on deployment, however I can not even get the references to work locally. I have tried using Url.Content() and MVCContrib's <%=Html.ScriptInclude("")%>.
My scripts are in a Scripts folder on the root of the site; my styles are in the usual Content/css/ folder.
Can anyone point me to where i can find a documentation about css, masterpage and derived pages in VS2008. I used them in VS2005 but it looks like it's almost impossible on VS2008. or it's just me.
