How To Modify Published Project - Adding New Pages
Dec 12, 2012
I published a project called TestSample which has 2 pages page1.aspx and page2.aspx and application dll Test.dll in bin folder.
what i need is, i want to create a new page called page3.aspx and page3.aspx.cs through programmatically which is done by file stream object, my need is to publish this page3.aspx to the TestSample virtual directory and also page3.aspx.cs has to be merged with Test.dll so that code behind should be avoided.
I am trying to add a .aspx page in the project , but while adding the .aspx page i am not getting the option to choose existing master pages. I remember long back i used to get that option to select the master page.
I am trying to modify an xml file from my aspx code. The file is in another directory from my project like in D:folderfile.xml When publishing my code and running it I am receiving an error as not to be able to access this directory, access in denied. Which user account shall I add to this folder in security option to be able to modify it. I tried adding IIS user but it does not seem to work.
I have a published web project. I want to add some .ascx files (with .cs & designer.cs files) to that published web site. These are simple custom user controls that access methods already part of the original application. Question? Is it possible to just drop these in the published web project without building the entire solution? If not why? When I drop these files in and run my application I get the error: "Parse Error: Could not load type 'the name of my custom controls namespace'". There is not a lot of code to show so this is all I have.
Default.aspx <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPages/TwoColumn.master" AutoEventWireup="true" Inherits="ApplicationName.Web.Default" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="uc1" TagName="CustomControl" Src="~/Controls/Custom/CustomControl.ascx" %> <asp:Content ID="content" contentplaceholder="cph" runat="Server"> <uc1:CustomControl ID="cc1" runat="server" CustomProperty="Hello World" /> </asp:Content> CustomControl.ascx <%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="CustomControl.ascx.cs" Inherits="ApplicationName.Web.Controls.Custom.CustomControl" %> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="ph1" runat="server></asp:PlaceHolder> CustomControl.ascx.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.IO; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; namespace ApplicationName.Web.Controls.Custom { public partial class CustomControl : System.Web.UI.UserControl { ///My logic } }
Again it seems so easy. What am I missing? Or is this not possible?
I am using third party component for printing purposes (Combit list and label). There is dll which has function for printing. (means it suppresses the print dialgue box and have information embedded in a file about the printer location). The printer is shared printer and attached to machine which is different from the development machine. Now the printing from this printer works fine during debugging. But when I publish the pages in virtual directory and then executing the application does not print. (pages are also published on the development machine).
I created a WCF service (.NET 3.5) that grabs data from a db and returns a list of objects. It works just fine. I tested it using the WCFTestClient application and got the desired results.Now, I tried to create an ASP.NET web application and consume the service. After enabling <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true"/> in the config file, the error message is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."How do I modify the service to work with ASP.NET?
Update 1 - I created a reference to the service. When I ran my very basic testing app, based on the sample code displayed on the service's default web page, I got the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" message.The service is returning the correct results when I use the WCF Test Client utility provided with Visual Studio. When I try to use the following code, all in the page_load event, I get the object reference message.
PhoneNumberServiceClient client = new PhoneNumberServiceClient(); // Use the 'client' variable to call operations on the service List<PhoneNumber> phones = client.GetPhoneNumbers();
I have several settings in my project area (stored in web.config). However, the scope is not editable and is permanently set to "Application", which means I can't edit them at run time. I would really like to be able to edit these from the web interface. I know that doing so would restart the application (since the web.config was modified), but I'm okay with that, once the settings are written.
Is there any way to programmatically modify the settings in the <applicationSettings><PROJECT.Properties.Settings> area of the web.config?
I'm working on an existing web project. All of the classes are in a seperate folder as vb files. I need to modify one to include a delete method. I think I can insert the delete method, my question is how do I update the project to include the modified class. I think that all of the classes are compiled into the project as a .dll which I don't know how to modify. I assume I need to modify the source vb file for the class and recompile?
How do you modify a ASP.NET MVC 2.0 project to work with the Spark View Engine?
I tried like described here:
[URL]
But somehow it still tries to route to .aspx files.
Here the code of my global.asax:
public class MvcApplication : System.Web.HttpApplication { public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.MapRoute(.......
In an obviously misguided effort to keep versions of a site built through vs2010 .aspx vb I copied the entire visual studio 2010 folder from its default location on my local pc to a folder on a network. I then opened the network folder version of the project in VS, made a small change to some text, built the site sucessfully and published the site sucessfully to the same place the original site was published to. However, when I try to access the site I get the "resouce cannot be found" error. In a bit of a panic I opened the original project in VS and published it...no problem the site comes up. What am I doing wrong?
I am in the planning stage for developing an asp.net internal site with C# code behind. I will need a menu at the top of every page that is essentially a navigation menu that allows the user to hover over the header and select the page from the sub-menu that they need to access. So data structure would be
Category Name Category Name Category Name Category Name --Page 1 Name --Page 1 Name --Page 1 Name --Page 1 Name --Page 2 Name --Page 2 Name --Page 2 Name --Page 2 Name
(just a snippet, their will actually be 10 Categories, with the MAX having 12 pages listed unerneath it)
I have two pages, say pageA and pageB, with code behind classes CodePageA and CodePageB. I would like to reference an instance of CodePageA in CodePageB, but I'm getting a
Compiler Error Message: CS0246
Both of my classes are in the default namespace. Can anyone give a hint of whats going on?
When I first created the project. Visual studio 2010 gave me an option to create the test project, but I selected "No". Now i want to add teh Test project. Is theor any way, I can add the Test project later.
I have created an App_Code folder in my MVC 2 project and added a C# Class to it. In my Controller I have added a using reference to the namespace my class is in so that i can create an instance. However when I run the project it says there is a build error and that the namespace could not be found or doesn't exist. I have added a namespace to the <pages><namespaces> part of the config file and that didn't fix it.
I am trying to deploy an ASP.NET 3.5 Web Application to my production server and I am using the Web Deployment Project for this purpose. I have a folder named MasterPages in the root of the application which contains all the master page files. When I build this project in the release mode and deploy it on to the server I am getting the below error message:
Directory 'C:inetpubwwwrootMasterPages' does not exist. Failed to start monitoring file changes.
I am using ASP.NET AJAX and the ToolkitScriptManager is on the master pages. I have noticed that the MasterPages folder is missing from the release build.
Before using any class in your website project/page we have to add it's assembly reference to our project. Right?
Now, when I am using SmtpClient class from System.Net assembly after adding the System.Net.Mail namespace in namespace node of application's web.config file but without adding assembly reference to the project it still accepting and running the code. Why?
I enquired the machine's web.config file located at C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727CONFIG but didnt find any assembly reference for System.Net.
how it is working and where the assembly reference has been added and how?
I am working on a page which is using a Master page for some default design, I need some css class to be added to the conent page, which we add normally in script tag in normal pages, My question is how to add some css content in a page which is using Master page,
I have 7 .aspx pages in my application. I have one masterpage so all pages have the same outlook. For 3 pages I want a treeview or some other control to display that I dont want in other Pages and I dont want to drag & drop that control in those 3 pages. How can i do that?
I got a new domain name for my project that I developped and I went in and changed all the old domain names to the new ones thru out the project and it actaully seemed to work. For a few days now when I first go to the page it askes me to login like it should then when I navigate to other pages it asks for login again once logged in that page then works well if I navigate to a new page for the session it asks again to login. I am using forms authentication.
1. Is there a reason why someone would want to add a reference to an assembly (e.g. System.Drawing) but not add the Using statement? Seems that if you add a reference, you should add the Using statement automatically, but maybe not always?
2. Correct me if I'm wrong, the only benefit of adding a "Using" statement at the top of your file, is to bring into scope an assembly and not have to fully type the class name? So if I have a Using System.Drawing, I can type in string = Color.Tomato.ToString(); instead of string = System.Drawing.Color.Tomato.ToString();
