I am trying to use the datadesigner for a project I normally have written the datalayer by hand seems to me you have much more control over whats going on , however , I am starting a project which is going to have the datalayer done in the data designer but I cannot get past the most basic of tasks .Parameter name: Original_LastName

Basically, the user Selects a row on GV that executes an Insert into a table the GV cell values of the selected row.
The SQL field data type is varchar. If the GV field is Null, the Insert adds the value to the SQL field. How do I keep the @nbsp; from being displayed in the cell of a data control when it is called at a later time? Do I add some more asp to my control parameter? do I add some vb code behind? I am creating a TableAdapter using corresponding wizard, with a GetDataByID() query. The select statement is like this:select * from books where ID = ?Thus books are filtered by ID. But in case a null is passed as a parameter, I want to select all records rather than none. Could you please tell me how I can do it?

I have setup my business object to have a create_date and edit_date members both datetime datatypes. My company want to display the create_date and edit_date fields in a gridview for each transaction. The problem i have is that after insterting a record it will have a valid create_date but no edit_date and when displayed in the gridview it defaults to datetime.minvalue (My default). How on earth do i show an empty field in my gridview for a null datetime field in the database?
I am using similar architecture to the Imar Spaanjaars example of a tiered solution. With a few small tweeks it has worked well for me for ages. I am passing a List<Database> to my object datasource which connects to my gridview.

In the detail view ,I'm just setting the value of a prepopulated combo box . But , the moment the bind statement is executed, the combobox (select element) becomes null. This works perfectly when done declaratively. Below is the code for imperative binding. This function is triggered when an item in the masterview is selected.

How do you use the http POST method with a Grid View on another page. I am trying to use the POST method to send the ID from the selected row of a Grid View, I am using a link button set to fire the select command and it has the Post Back URL set, from one page and then retrieve the ID value on another page using an Object Data Source. Also, under the Defining Parameters, I am setting the ID parameter to Form Parameter Source and have entered the Grid Views name in the Form Field.

1. A Gridview presenting data
2. A detailsView used to edit data in the gridview (used with a modelpopup extender).
In using the detailsview to add a new record, one of the data feilds should be selectable whilst also allowing the user to add to the list . Initially I implemented a DropDownList which works fine but doesn't allow adding entries. I tried replacing the DropDownList
with an Ajax ComboBox however the control doesnt seem to work as advertised. I have performed a quick search on the web and have found others reporting this issue (Ajax combobox in a detailsview) but no solutions.
What would be a way of presenting to a user in a detailsview a range of values to select from whilst allowing them to add to that list?
Im using a combobox that seems to be wider than it should be. Does anyone have a suggestion or fix for the problem.
