I have a website with several languages in a database. From the database I use ResXResourceWriter to create my .resx files. This is working really good but sometimes I get this exception:
MESSAGE: Cannot access a closed resource set.

I don't know why this is happening or how to solve it. Does anyone know anything about this?
I have an object defined by my entity framework model that has navigation properties, but whenever the navigation property is null, entity framework seems to try to pull it down again from the database. This is fine for now and I can work on this problem later, but when it tries to get the navigation property from the database, I get the error from the model:The ObjectContext instance has been disposed and can no longer be used for operations that require a connection.
Well this isn't too good that it's blowing chunks like this. Is there anything I can do to ensure that this is only attempted when the context is still open?
I am using an AsyncFileUpload control inside a FormView. I only want the file to saved during the FormView's ItemInserting event. In trying to find a way to do this, the only thing I could come up with was to store the AsyncFileUpload control or the PostedFile in a Session variable during the OnUploadedComplete() event and then invoke the SaveAs method in the ItemInserting event. Problem is the SaveAs method is throwing an exception saying "Cannot Access A Closed File". If I invoke SaveAs in the OnUploadedComplete() event, it saves successfully, but I need it to only save when the user submits the form. this error or perhaps a better way to save the file during ItemInserting()?
I tried searching, but I guess the <% $ %> triggers something on google and it turns up nothing. What is this accessing in an asp.net .aspx page? I've used the = but never a $.
Assembly 'LocalizationRes, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' contains a Web resource with name 'LocalizationRes.VerifyDeletion.js', but does not contain an embedded resource with name 'LocalizationRes.VerifyDeletion.js'. getting an error saying like this while I am trying to acces the Resource file through Ajax...
I want to implement resource based access in asp.net mvc project. For example i have create employee, edit, delete employee and view employeei want to implement a funcitonality where administrator can assign resources to user for example user with moderator can only view employees and user with administrative priviledge can create, edit, delete and view employees list. How can i implement this functionality?Any articles on internet on this topic?
Server A exists on domain A and server B exists on domain B. From server A I need to output file names that exist on shared folder on server B. I tried the following with no success (Access denied error):
DirectoryInfo dir = new DirectoryInfo(@"\serversharedFolder");
After some Googling I found that I need to use personlization to impersonate an existing user on Server B that has access to that shared folder. I used a C# personlization class as explained on codeproject (http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/cpimpersonation1.aspx). I supply the domain, the user, and the password and hope to get access to the shared folder BUT the error I see now is"Login failure: unknown user or bad password".
I am 100% sure that the domain, user, and password I supplied are correct. When trying to access the share via windows explorer from server A I am prompted for a username and password. After entering domainusername and the password I have access to the folder. So I know that the credentials I supplied are correct.
Am I going about this the right way? I have full access to server A and B so maybe there is an easier way to accomplish my goal.
We have a web site on customer server. It is being locked every 2 or 3 months. I posted this subject before. For understanding the error I created a log file. When the server locked I look the log file and saw "system resource exceeded" error message. Have you any idea about this error.. When restarting the server it continue.
I have created a webservice in 2010. And when I call it from my web application sometimes,It generates the follwoing errors:-1. The underlying connection was closed: A connection that was expected to be kept alive was closed by the server.2. Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.I have already tried increasing excutonTimeOut etc.
Or any class that's not X.aspx.vb. I've imported the Globalization, Threading, Threading.Thread, and UI.Page namespaces. But it won't come up in Intellisense and it gives error lines in my code. Is there a way to access use the GetLocalResource("Y") method in other classes?
I've added a key/value pair to an .resx file named SharedResources in my App_GobalResources directory. All the examples I've read on line have me trying to access the value as:
[Code]...
However, the intellisense is telling me that (Resources is not a member of '<Default>')
I've also tried this syntax, without the global
Dim MsgTemplate As String = Resources.SharedResources.EmailTemplate
I then get a message that (SharedResouces is not a member of Resources)
The intellisens is showing the following members for Resources
ResourceManger
ResourceReader
ResourceWriter
It should be compiling a global collection based upon the files in my App_GlobalResources directory from what I'm reading. However,I can't find anything to match what everythink on line says I should have available.
This error stopping my work in my crucial time. The error is "The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly.".There are multiple WCF service I created in my project. But when I am requesting only one service this error is coming. I compare with other service, no difference. The service works fine in the morning, but afternoon it stops working and raising error.
I installed Silverlight 3.0 Tools for 2008 Sp1, Silverlight 3.0 Developer, WCF RIA Beta and Silverlight 4.0 runtime in my system in the morning. After getting this error I uninstalled WCF RIA Beta. But same issue.Could not find any solution. Please assist me how to solve this issue.
I've been out of the ASP.Net arena since 1.1, and I'm starting to get back into it after a hiatus.
In the past, I would generally create SqlDataReaders, wire them up to pull from tables in a database via direct sql or accessing database views (mostly in MSSQL), grab the data, and display it in some datatable, or datalist.
Modifying data would usually be calling a stored procedure in the database to add/modify data, and then retrieve it afterward.
Now that I read up, I see there are alot of new things in ADO.Net world; strongly typed datasets, auto-generated adapters, etc.
My question is, does anyone have a good reference on best practices (or a book recommendation) on how to handle data access, and data manipulation and display now? I'm assuming that there are more automatic ways to show and manipulate data than before, but the new details are quite vast (which is good), but slightly overwhelming for me.
I am learning on how to create data access layer code for a web site. I want to ensure I am actually connecting to the datasource, so, I am wanting to use a try/catch block within my data access layer class methods. What I am not sure how to handle is a case where the connectionstate is not open. The method should ideally return a datatable. If an error is thrown would I just return an empty datatable? That is my first thought. My other thought is to return an object and pass a datatable if the connection succeeds or the exception if the connection fails.
In our web application we need to keep various company's settings. For eg "DiamondProdRefIDCaption","Shippingpickup","ZipCodeCaption","DefaultCountry","AllowToEditInvoice", etcThese settings are different for various companies and are placed in web.config as key-value pair.Initially, we have tried do simplify this process by adding a company_settings table in the DB so as to allow us to add companies on the fly. However, this method makes it very difficult to add a new setting
I wanna write a usercontrol to handle different access levels on pages.
Below is the html i wanna achieve.
[Code]....
This is my code at this point:
[ParseChildren(false), PersistChildren(true)] public partial class RequiredUserType : System.Web.UI.UserControl { public string UserTypes { get; set; }
[Code].....
My problem is that the <Content> and <AlternativeContent> doesn't get rendered as Panels and on the Client side its rendered as the initial tags(<Conten>) and not a div or whatever a asp:Panel normally gets converted to.
