May 23, 2010I am trying to create a table at runtime which is populated from information in a database. At the present time the table displays as follows: The problem is I need the "test test" text to be in the middle of the table, however if I show a box around the cell it only takes up the 1st half of the table regardless of the width I specify. Is it possible to have a dynamic table that effectively has rows where the cells are merged together in a specific way to allow the control to be positioned where I want it? THe code I am using to create the table is as follows:

VS 2008 [RESOLVED] Grouping In A GridView
Aug 5, 2010I currently have 2 queries in a database that are the DataSource (determined by user selecting one from a DropDown) which is working fine, but now the client is asking for a view (a query) that displays both sets of data together. I have the query made and it's working, but with the GridView currently everything is mashed together with no indication which set of data any of it is. What I would like to do is if the "all" item is selected in the dropdown have the GridView put a line at the top that states the first set of data then a line in the middle when the records are showing the 2nd set of data. Anyone know of an easy way to do this?

Of course I understand the type cast issue but why would a IIS recycle resolve the issue?

However, When i put it into my code (Entity SQL):

I got error :
'CONVERT' cannot be resolved into a valid type of function. Near simple identifier, line1, column 200.
LogTime is a DateTime format e.g 05/05/2010 14:12:12
I want to select ONLY the Date (e.g 05/05/2010) and select ONLY the time (e.g 14:12:12) so i use CONVERT function.

May 18, 2010I have a master page with a login box on it. Inside the login box is a button -

NOW ... On my local dev machine this code works fine. The control fires the event and everything is how it should be. When I run this site on a remote web server (tried two of them - both IIS7 running on 2008 R2) the event is never called. I added some logging to see what is happening and the PostBack event on the Master Page does not happen when the button is clicked - the page is just reloaded.

Apr 27, 2010I have a web form that contains a GridView, which impliments Search in Grid with a TextBox and Button control in the footer. This works as I have it now. I have also implimented a Export to Excel function. The Export to Excel works by itself if the Search in Grid function is not included in the footer.The Export to Excel function errors when trying to render the Grid for the export. Is there a better way to incorporate both functions and accomplish the same thing? Am I missing something simple?

However IIS is responding on a local computer with http://localhost and even when I type the local computer's IP address where the page is present. Computer is running XP and IIS 5.1. The message displayed on browser is "The server is taking too long to respond" however the page is just "Hello World" which displays local time.

Mar 28, 2011I've been a VB programmer for years, and friend asked me to write a program that does data storage and is executable from PC & MAC browsers. It seems like I need ASP.NET for this, so I tried to write a server-side 'hello world' ASP.NET program. I did this using VWD 2010 Express, and after successfully 'building' the website, it works great if I view it on the development machine. But when I copy it to my web server (running on a Windows XP Tablet machine) and try to view default.aspx, instead of getting a nicely-formatted page, my browser (IE8) is displaying the HTML source code. I tried hosting the site on both Apache and IIS , and I'm getting the same results.
1. What am I doing wrong?
2. Is ASP.NET the best platform for building a database-based application that can be viewed from both PC's and Macs? If so, should this work from iPads / Safari as well?

Feb 4, 2011I am trying to fetch a page from a remote php web appln in a different domain. The page contains a chart image which I need to display in my web app. The chart image is dynamically generated using jquery.
Now the remote web app needs to authenticate myself as user i.e username of my machine. So the first time I made a request for its first page it asked for my username and password in the browser ( I.E). From next time it doesn't ask for my username and password and opens the first page.My username was added to the user DB and probably it stores my IP or computer name.Then the chart page also opens in the browser(I.E).
After some time if I try to open the chart page it comes up with some messages and junk values.
But if I again open the first page and then the chart page in the browser it opens up with the proper chart image. So everytime I need to access the chart image I need to authenticate first by opening the first page since the session timeout for authentication is not known. The above process which was happening in browser has to be replicated in my code (C#) in my web app. Now for authenticating myself i.e myusername to the remote appln I write the code below but all I get is some messages and junk values. so how do I authenticate and then access this chart page.
