how to retrive the long raw datatype data from client machine(which have oracle database)
and insert this data into server machine(oracle db)
Clarification:
I am having the server machine,the client will send his credentials of the oracle database in the form and on submitting,tables of his machine have to be copied in my machine.
The tables containing images data which is of type long raw
I have a website that I want to distinguish the traffic generate by myself and by others.
I use wireless router to go on internet, so I have a static internal IP and a dynamic external IP.
Is there any way I could track the information of my own machine when I access any of the page of my website? Track the machine name? Track the internal IP?
i'm developing a system with asp.net, there i generate a powerpoint presentaion in the server machine, i need to generate it there and save it in the clients machine, how can i achieve this? how to access the clients machine and save the generated file there?

However when I deploy it to a server it reverts to American format (mm-dd-yyyy). Does anyone have any idea of when this might be happening?This might be outside the scope of stackoverflow
View 3 RepliesI've built an online scheduling system for a local company so that they can have a calendar with the scheduled jobs for the day and so that the customers can check on the progress of the work being done for them. Allowing the customer to check for themselves would cut their phone call volume down to about 30% of what it is now leaving more time to complete jobs. Everything is fine but I'm concerned about instances when either the server has issues or the business' internet is down. I was considering making it a desktop application but then it wouldn't have the online abilities of allowing the customers to check on the job's progress.
So, basically, as it stands now, if there is problems with the internet connection, either at the business or at the host, the business loses their daily scheduler and if I make it a desktop app the customer has to call to check on the progress. Unless I can make the local database copy any transaction made on the desktop app to the database on the server. How would I go about doing something like that? Would this be a good reason to use a web service (something I've never done)?
I migrating a large asp.net webform site to MVC. I want to mix match old asp.net web form and asp.net mvc together for sometime and gradually convert the webform model to pure mvc model.
So i copied all aspx/ascx files from the old webform site to my mvc project. Now when i compile, i get build error. Code behind files can not find any server controls inside their aspx pages.
I can solve this problem by adding a desinger.cs file for each of the aspx,ascx file but that simply is not viable for me since i am dealing with hundreds of aspx pages and user controls and i can not afford to manually add a designer file for each of them.
I have two web forms inside the same project folder that will be very similar when completed. When I copy a web form and paste it in the project folder by its new name I can see the .aspx file, the aspx.cs and aspx.designer.cs all by the new name. Appears to work perfect...........Why don't these show up when I view the Solution Folder? I was hoping to copy one, make changes and rename the second one saving time. Appears to not be tied into the Project.

We have a web service running live. Last week, we pulled the source code down to my machine and successfully built it.
My goal is to become familiar with this code and document it. My problem is that I am not sure how to get it running locally.
First of all, I have to configure it in IIS or something? How do I do that, and is that indeed the right place to begin? I tried creating a consumer in a separate VS solution, and when I said browse for local web services it said "Active Directory Services cannot find the web server."
I tried this link, but got lost when it said "3.Under Visual Studio installed templates, click ASP.NET Web Service." because I don't have that template.

I have a large folder (1.5 GB) in my ASP.NET Web Site, called Downloads, which contains media files, graphics, etc. No code that needs to be compiled or even deployed on every build.
I use Web Deployment Projects to compile and deploy. Every time I build the deployment project, the Downloads folder gets included and copied to the output location. This is taking a significant amount of time, because the folder is copied twice.
I've tried modifying the wdproj file like this:

I've also tried not adding the * after the folder, but then I get a message that says the directory is not empty during the build process.
I've also tried this approach:

And that still did not help. (also says: The directory is not empty.)What is the proper way to tell WDP not to consider a folder at all?
I have been banging my head against this problem for a bit and I think I am stuck. I would like to pull data from a Database to populate a list of possible "clients" to select from on one side. Then using what has been clicked load the client specific data into a tab container on the opposite side. I plan on doing lazy tab loading so I am not sure if that matters. I am really stuck and any help or guidance anyone could give would be greatly appreciated! I understand the basics of data loading and of tab containers, but i am unsure of what to do. I am coding this in C#. I basically want to transfer a file from the client to the file storage server without actual login to the server so that the client cannot access the storage location on the server directly. I have just used the Import and Export Wizard to copy my production SQL Server database, which uses Membership and Roles. I used the option to copy all the data from existing tables and views and did not modify the mapping in any way. Things do not seem to have gone well.....
My source database has a bunch of views with names like vw_aspnet_Applications,vw_aspnet_MembershipUsers, etc. The copy database has these listed as tables!I wondered if running aspnet_regsql.exe might fix things. I needed to run this anyway to create all the missing stored procedures for Membership, etc. However, it failed with the error:Setup failed.Exception:An error occurred during the execution of the SQL file 'InstallCommon.sql'. The SQL error number is 2714 and the SqlException message is: There is already an object named 'vw_aspnet_Applications' in the database.Creating the vw_aspnet_Applications view...I am a bit lost. All I want to do is to create a total clone of my production database for test purposes. Where do I go from here?
If I have a checkboxlist where I insert a clients clientid and a number of interests they check off. How do I then update that later when they check off additional interests. The insert tries to insert the original ones as well as the new ones. This is a violation of the Primary key and the statement is terminated.
Is there a way to skip some or do I need to run a delete first and remove the existing interests for that client and then do a new insert? When the page opens the checkboxlist is populated with the previous interests that were inserted for the client. The user can then check additional interests for the client and then click a button to do the insert.

I have an C# ASP application I am writing that needs to have the capability to import a generated excel or a comma delineated sheet each day. A clerk will have this job each morning so it doesn't need to be automated. My problem in trying to understand the solution to this is that the 1 sheet contains loan information, including customer information all in the same sheet. I would like to send certain columns to update information in the loan table and send other information to update the customer table. I need it to create relationships when new loans appear in the spreadsheet.

View 21 RepliesI have a WCF webservice that acts as a data provider for my ASP.NET web page. Throughout the web page a number of calls are made to the web service via the auto-generated ServiceClient. Currently I create a new ServiceClient and open it for each request i.e. Get Users, Get Roles, Get Customer list etc.... Each one of these would create a new ServiceClient and open a new connection.
Can I make my ServiceClient class a global or statically available class so that all functions within my ASP.NET web page can use the same client. This would seem to be far more efficient. Are there any issues with doing it this way? Any advice I should take into account when doing this? What happens if I make multiple requests to a client? Presumably it is all synchronous so it shouldn't matter if I make 1 or 50 calls to it?
As the title says I have a Win 7 64 bit dev machine, Win 2K3 32 bit production box and I run against Oracle 10g which Oracle clients do I need to run? Do I need to run the Oracle 32 and 64 bit clients? And if so what versions?
