I migrated my asp application to asp.net . When i run I got an error like this.

I am running into this strange Cyrstal Report runtime error. To give a bit of a background I am deploying my web application on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server using Crystal Report 11.5.3700.0 where the IIS 6.0 is running under 32 bit mode as one of the forums mentioned that this version of Crystal report can only run under 32 bit mode.So as expected all works ok under the development environment but when I open the reports on to the production server error It recieve this error at the following code line.No error.Description:An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. I have set up my website to use ASP.NET Membership. it all works fine when trying to use it on my development machine but when I put it on the web server and try to log in, I get this error :

The question: Is it possible to configure multiple SMTP servers or update the SMTP object server information at runtime?
Description of problem: The site I'm working on has a few pages which send emails. Our site is using Gmail so even though it's a custom domain our email is sent out though Gmail SMTP servers.
Some emails come from the system and some emails come from users in certain groups. I have an SMTP server configured with the admin email for the system e.g. admin@mysite.com This works fine and when I get the email it shows from admin@mysite.comOne of our user groups let's call it "groupA" has an email configured on our domain i.e. groupA@mysite.com When I send the email and specify a from address for the MailMessage object as groupA@mysite.com it still shows up in my outlook as coming from admin@mysite.com I did a little further testing and if I specify both the from address and the ReplyTo as groupA@mysite.com it will show as From=admin@mysite.com but when I choose reply in outlook it shows groupA@mysite.com My best guess is that Gmail is overwriting the From address with the SMTP user to prevent email spoofing.
I found this: http://www.systemnetmail.com/faq/4.1.aspx but it won't work for me since group A, B, and C all need to send emails from the same page.

I am currently working on visual studio 2008 , sql express 2005, i have copied .mdf and .ldf files , after i copied these files and try execute some existing stored procedure but exception is coming like " Failed to update database xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.MDF" because the database is read-only", I dont knw what's wrong with this , i have executed same stored procedure in old .mdf and .ldf database , and its working fine . but in copied .Mdf , not working.

View 7 RepliesThis is a very common error as evidenced but the very large number of problems and suggested solutions on the web. I finally got around it last week but can't remember what was the step that did it. At that time, I was building a web application rather than a web site. Is that the difference? As you can see, it is no longer in the APP_DATA folder and is named membership.mdf rather than aspnetdb.mdf. I ran aspnet_regsql.exe to create it and actually had it working and was updating it successfully. But for other reasons, I had to scrap the application and decided to re-create it from scratch as a web site rather than a web application. I had been using Visual Studio 2008 to build the web application but am now using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition to build the web site. Unfortunately, the Visual Studio application will no longer open so I can't verify that the web application still works. Can anybody help? (Please!!!) BTW, ASPNET and NETWORK SERVICE both have full control over the membership.mdf.
View 1 Repliesok i have my GUI installed on the server which has users as administrator as the role of an administrators and user1 which has the role of the guest...I have one project and there are different pages for administrators and guests... when the login screen comes up and the administrator logs in he should be redirected to the admin.aspx page and for user1 he should be redirected to the guest.aspx page.
Now the scenario is i have 10 users in a company and one administrator. This GUI is on the network server and these 10 users are able to access it as guests.
How do the guest user logs in and can access the SQl database in the read only mode but when the administrator user logs in he can access the database in the read and write mode.?? I dont know how to do this really... any suggestions
(by IIS server or webconfig or some setting in SQL server)
and the previous question is what to use (forms or windows authentication) where can i get information on how to set up this kind of authentication???? Is there the need to use impersonation also??

View 7 RepliesI have a website written in C# that was running fine on one server. We moved it to another server and have a couple issues. I am mainly a VB.NET coder but can do a few things in C#. This is not a project - it is a website and can open it in VS2008 no problem. This is an admin site for the whole website where the user can add customer comments, etc. When logging in, it works fine. I can go to one of the admin pages after logging in and works. If I go to two other different pages, I get this error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

It turns out this is in the main.master page and it is used by the other pages that load fine. The ApplicationTitle variable is set right in the web.config file and like I said, it shows on the other pages.
My question is why would this code work fine for some pages and not two others? All of these admin pages are under a folder called Admin and the web.config file is in the root folder of the website. Its almost like these two pages cannot see the web.config file in the root folder? Why would that be if thats the case?

I am trying to create Web Application using ASP.Net via Visual Studio 2010. The Database that I use is Access, with connection Method OleDb
When using the query "Update" or "Delete", the programs shows no errors, but the data in Access does not change.
While for query "Select" and "Insert", the data is displayed and inserted successfully.

Previously I tried a direct query using AccessDataSource, but the result just the same, Update and Delete can't be done. But the Select and Insert can be executed successfully.
